Early scan due to spotting

Hey ladies, I'm here looking for some reassurance/positive stories please 🙏

I found out on June the 1st I'm expecting, however I was also spotting when I found out. The spotting had started the day before I found out as a rusty coloured bleed which then turned brown and continued to spot brown for 7 days. Sorry for the tmi... I was sent to epau for a scan due to the spotting where the sonographer estimated I was roughly 5 weeks and 3 days, she was able to see 2 gestational sacs and 2 yolk sacs, she also found a reason for the spotting, but she wasn't able to see tiny babies or foetal pole/HB, she said it was just a couple of days or so too early.

I'm due back on the 17th for another scan where i hope and pray she'll see 2 little hb but this past week all i can do is worry. I never had spotting with my other 2 pregnancies so it's new territory for me.

Has anyone had similar/got any stories to share?

Thanks, Cliona xx

Hi OP I'm sorry you're going through this, it's such a worry Thanks

I've had bleeding/spotting in all my pregnancies with different outcomes:

Number 1 - rusty coloured spotting from the day I got my BFP which turned out to be ectopic.

Number 2 - brown spotting from 5 weeks onwards, scan at 5 weeks showed yolk sac but no fetal pole which ended in miscarriage at 7 weeks.

Number 3 (current) - intermittent pink/red/brown spotting from weeks 6 onwards. Scanned at 6 weeks & a hb was seen. Bleeding happened again on a few occasions but I'm now 16+6 & all is looking well.

So it really can go either way. Your scan was very early so I'm not surprised they didn't see a hb. Really hoping it's good news for you at your next scan, I'll keep everything crossed for you x

Hi,

I had a scan at 5 weeks via my ivf clinic due to spotting and all we could see was a sac and yolk.
2 weeks later my baby with a HB.

What was the reason for your spotting?

@Moonshine11 that's great news 🥰 thanks for sharing.

My reason for spotting was a small subchorionic hematoma, she seemed to think it was from implantation. Xx

Small ones are very common op.
You are not out the game yet! 5w3d is very early to see much.
Good luck for your next scan, how exciting there is two 🙊

@Moonshine11 thank you, yes 2... I couldn't quite believe it... i would love twins. Ofcourse I googled about early pregnancy and twins and came across information on "vanishing twin syndrome" 🤦‍♀️ pregnancy is such a minefield isn't it. Xx
