5 weeks pregnant today...but only testing 2-3 weeks on CB digi

Hi everyone,
So, like it says on the tin, today i turned 5 weeks pregnant. I think my dates are fairly accurate as I was charting to get pregnant.
I took a CB digital with FMU and it only showed 2-3 weeks. I am feeling really down and scared.
I tested again with afternoon urine and the result is still the same. I also tested twice today with Internet Cheapies and the test line and control line are as dark as each other.
Should I be bracing myself for the worst? I was holding off on a GP visit until I got my 3+
Thanks everyone

You need to add 2 weeks onto what the pregnancy test says. Does it not give info on the instructions?

MichelleScarn · 04/06/2021 17:09

What demented said, there's a bit bottom right of the instructions on CB that tells you this!

dementedpixie · 04/06/2021 17:13

The test dates you from conception whereas your pregnancy is dated from your last monthly period so you are about 2 weeks pregnant before you have conceived

I had ivf so 100% certain on dates and got 3+ at 5wk1d which was 23dpo

I did lots of googling and seems lots of people take a while to get it

elephantsneverforget19 · 04/06/2021 18:17

I would try not to worry too much, it may just take a couple more days for it to move up to 3+

KylaKins · 04/06/2021 18:27

Thanks ladies,
I understand how the test works and that you have to add 2 weeks on to what it says. With that being done, am I not still coming up a bit short?
Xx

Thanks for reply. I understand about adding on the 2 weeks, but what I meant in my OP is should it not have turned to 3+ already?

KylaKins · 04/06/2021 18:29

Thanks Michelle. I do know this, but what I meant in OP was do you think it should have turned to 3+ by now?

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 04/06/2021 18:30

It's not an exact science. 4-5 weeks is pretty close

KylaKins · 04/06/2021 18:30

Thanks for your reply! I hope I get it soon as I'm so worried. How far along are you now? Congrats

And would 3+ not mean over 5 weeks

KylaKins · 04/06/2021 18:31

Thank you. Heres hoping!

Yes I suppose it would. I will retest tomorrow.

You don't need to keep testing. The conception indicator is a very broad and not wholly accurate measure. All the tests realistically show is one of two things: you are pregnant; you are not pregnant.

Do you need to see a GP? In plenty of places, it's not necessary. Here you book in to see a midwife between 8 and 10wks.

KylaKins · 04/06/2021 18:43

Thanks for your reply. I do need to visit my GP but I was hoping to get a 3+ on CB before booking in. Thats what I did in my last pregnancy so I guess I am a bit superstitious. It would be lovely for the 3+ to develop over the weekend as I would be able to book in with GP on Monday as planned

I had a healthy baby and never made it past 1-2 weeks on CB. They aren’t reliable otherwise they’d use them in the medical field to check for chemicals or miscarriages

KylaKins · 04/06/2021 18:50

This is actually a great point. Thank you for your encouraging reply. Xx

I only got 3+ at 5+0 with my twins (and I tested twice a day sometimes every day) so don't count yourself out yet x

Thank you. Xxx
