Covid vaccine whilst taking 150mg aspirin a day?

I’m currently taking 150mg of aspirin a day due to my previous baby being a low birth weight. Hubby just had his first dose of vaccine and they mentioned that you can’t have it if you are on a blood thinner, does aspirin count as a blood thinner as it does thin the blood?

I’ve asked the GP and they don’t know, they have written to someone to ask but they haven’t got back to the GP in 2 weeks, I’m keen to get the vaccine but just want to know if it’s safe

I was asked this question when I went for mine (Pfizer at about 17 weeks). I'm on 159mg aspirin and this was no problem at all, the nurse just said she'd have to hold the cotton pad over the site a little bit longer in case I bled a bit more. It was probably 30 seconds extra.

I don't think it would apply to heavy duty things like warfarin but for those of us on the pregnancy low dose aspirin it seems it's not an issue, the lovely nurse doing mine didn't bat an eyelid when I said.

150mg not 159, imagine trying to cut tablets to make that dosage 😂

Your DH misunderstood, or the vaccinator was simply wrong. There is no contraindication, it’s just that the vaccine site may bleed.

Every time I get a sore throat or a slightly ache I’m paranoid I’ve caught it from somewhere. It’s just time for me to get the vaccine

I take 75mg aspirin daily, have had both doses and not asked this question

I take 15mg aspirin a day and had my first Pfizer vaccination the other day.

They asked if I was on any blood thinners, I said I took the aspirin and they said that was absolutely fine.

I maybe bled a tiny bit more than some but barely noticeable. She taped a bit of cotton wool over the jab site but I took it off when I got back to my car 15 minutes later and there was only the smallest spot of blood on the cotton wool.

I had the pfizer vaccine two weeks ago and told them at the time I was taking 150mg aspirin- It wasn't a problem.
