Covid Jab after pregnancy - how long to wait

I have my next midwife appointment tomorrow so will ask then as well but posting here in case anyone has been in this situation

My age group has been called for their Covid jabs and I really want to get mine done. But I am due my C section next week, and although there are appointments available just before I go in, I do want to wait until baby is here (personal choice, if I still had a while to go I wouldn't hesitate but at 38 weeks I feel like its sensible to wait)

However I don't know how soon after to get it booked in. This is my second C section so I know I will be sore and not able to walk/travel too far too soon, but is 10 days after too soon? Worried that I might feel awful after it, but my DH ended up with Covid when I was about 20 weeks and seeing how ill he was (luckily he didn't need hospitalizing and made a full recovery) I really want to get it done!

Hi I've just had mine yesterday 7 weeks post section. I would advise to wait a bit longer it has wiped me out and hard to hold a baby with painful arm. But that's just my experience

Watching as I was wondering the same! I’m 38 weeks but not booked for a c-section. I’m in my late 20s so know I’ll be able to book in the next few weeks.

But neither want to feel drained from side effects when I’m in labour nor make recovery from birth harder!

@Donnah85587 I hadn’t even considered that holding baby with a sore arm would be difficult!

No c section but I had my first pfizer jab the other day at 19 pays post partum. The sore arm is now fading and only really hurt when I tried to lift it above shoulder height.

Out of everyone I know whose had the vaccine, the pfizer first dose just leaves them with a sore arm for a couple of days whereas the AZ vaccine has floored people, my partner included, he was ill for 5 days after it!

Thanks everyone. I was thinking of a couple of weeks. The booking centre near me had appointments for a week after and after everyones feedback I do feel this is probably a bit too early. I'll keep checking and hopefully something for a couple of weeks time comes up Smile

Watching as I’m currently 39 weeks and think my age group will be called in the coming days. Not c section so I’m not sure when baby will arrive, which will make booking tricky!
