C section on Friday and I have a cold

Feeling miserable hence the middle of the night post! I have a c section booked for 3 days time and I have a bloody stinking cold. I have a Covid test booked for 11am to rule that out, but all being well should I go ahead with the c section as scheduled? Will they laugh at me down the phone if I call them about it? It’s only a cold but I’m more worried about the coughing/sneezing post op and how painful that would be. I also don’t want to bring anything onto a shared ward and infect others. I’ve been isolating at home for months to avoid getting ill during pregnancy and have managed to avoid any bugs until now, I blame the toddler and the germ factory they call nursery!

If it’s only a cold you will likely be over it by Friday. In the meantime keep warm, plenty of hot drinks and have some paracetamol.

If you find you are struggling with congestion, coughing and sneezing it may be worth delaying it until you have recovered. I would give them a call.

I feel like it’s only just ramping up, I only starting feeling a bit off yesterday (Monday). God what timing.

Delay it.
Coughing and sneezing during csection recovery is no joke

I'd chat to them about it.

FWIW I had a cold when I gave birth to my second (not a c section) and birth seemed to magically cure it. I felt rotten the day before but all symptoms vanished in labour. I don't remember feeling unwell again after either 🤷🏼‍♀️
