Name change but regular poster, anyways, I’m 9 weeks pregnant, and haven’t touched my cervix at all really, had a scan a few days ago and all fine, strong heartbeat so not worried about something being wrong however just out of curiosity and with clean hands just wanted to see what my cervix feels like but there seems to be a squishy bit of tissue (that’s the only word I can use to describe it) hanging from my cervix about an inch in length, I did google it and can’t find anything similar, didn’t know if this was normal? If I need to be worried? Maybe I’m just being neurotic but now I’m worried about having sex etc 😂

How thick was it? Are you sure it wasn't your cervix? Your cervix at this stage will be about an inch long.

It wasn’t my cervix as I could feel that, this bit of tissue is thickness of a pencil and squishy and mucus like hanging from the entrance of my cervix - I really don’t know if it’s something to get worked up over

Erm. Hmm. Aren't bodies weird? Is this your first baby? I ask because when I went for my smear test a couple of months after I gave birth the nurse poked around for ages, sighing and huffing to herself, and finally said it was taking a while because I had a prolapse that was making it hard to see! When I basically screamed 'A WHAT?!?!?!' she explained that it's really common after pregnancy/birth, and it was nothing to be worried about. So if it's not your first pregnancy maybe you just have a little prolapse of some kind that's being exacerbated by your growing uterus? Can't really imagine what else might be happening there.

It sounds like your mucous plug? I’ve not felt there before during pregnancy but likely it’s that. I wouldn’t disturb it.
