I got pregnant and all I got was this lousy fruit-shoot

Its Friday night, wine o’clock, the pubs are open, and instead of enjoying a glass of wine, with the girlies, I am at home in my pjs feeling pregnant and sorry for myself.

So that I can feel like a grown-up and not have to spend the next gazillions months sipping on fruit-shoots, I would love to hear your recommendations (or recommend-don’ts!) of non-alchoholic tipples. Whether it’s nonsecco, the best alchohol-free beer or home-made mocktail recipes. You never know, we could start our own online non-alcoholic wine tasting club!

Would love to hear your suggestions as have a long time to try them all.

Robinsons lime and mint cordial, mix it with soda and ice, its just like a mojito!

Seedlip. Not cheap but you really can pretend it's booze!

Currently sipping on a pineapple and ginger beer with ice made by DM - she says it reminds her of a Moscow mule! Weird concoction admittedly but quite refreshing and tasty.

Virgin mojito, Schloer, non alcoholic beers.

Lyres non alcoholic amaretto and cranberry juice was my go to while pregnant.

Fentimans rose lemonade is just delicious.
I don’t drink and never have so can’t really comment on specific non alcoholic/fake drinks!

Erdinger non alcoholic weissbeir - nice enough to carry on drinking when not pregnant.

I wasn't that convinced by the seedlip ones but Holland and Barrett sell mini ones so you can try before buying a big bottle!

I like Belle & Co Bees Knees 'Prosecco' but I haven't really found anything overly convincing so I've given up!

Water/tea/gaviscon for me 😂

Tonic with lime, sparkling elderflower

I have elderflower cordial and sparkling water with ice or Gordon's non- alcoholic gin. Always in a nice glass to make it feel more fancy than it is! I'd avoid non-alcoholic wine though as tastes like apple juice with a much higher price tag

Don Simon lemon and raspberry drink.... because it’s blue and reminds me of cocktails.

Came on to say the same about Robinson's crushed mint and lime!! Sparkling water and lots of ice, lovely. The only half decent fake fizz I've found is the Freixenet

Tonic

Just tonic, with ice, a garnish if possible, but done up in a big copa glass

Fortnum and Mason sparkling tea - pricey but worth it!

I always enjoyed a Becks blue, especially in summer with a tiny drop of lime cordial

Fever tree tonic with bitters - the pink one! Or you could buy tonic and bitters separately. Not too sweet, interesting taste.

I second sparkling tea too! There’s a brand called Saicho which is a cheaper than F&M!

Lidl do a really nice non-alcoholic beer, better than some of the big brands!

Belvoir do a really nice non alcoholic G&T

I feel your pain 😩 I thought Nosecco was terrible! The Friexenet 0% alcohol sparkling “wine” is a closer alternative to Prosecco but still not the real thing.

Elderflower cordial and apple juice is what I always ordered when I was pregnant!

I have just ordered a non-alcoholic wine to come with my next food order- it cost £7.99 for the bottle so I blimin well hope it is not just glorified grape juice!

Pomegranate juice with fizzy water. About half and half.

The best proper Bitter type low alcohol beer with that true Hops taste is Adnams Ghostship 0.5% alcohol free . It tastes so much like their full strength Ghostship that my Dear old Dad could not tell the difference as long as we hid the empty bottles!

He is sadly no longer with us, but the last few months of his life he was on medication that prevented him from drinking alcohol, but with this one he truly did believe that he was drinking the full strength stuff!
