Maternity allowance - how long did your claim take?

Just wondering if anyone has applied recently and knows how long their claim took? I’m almost 31 weeks and know they have received my documents, couldn’t apply immediately as needed info from multiple employers to be sent off.

Hoping this gets sorted before baby arrives!

I sent mine off on Monday, and I spoke to an advisor before I did and she said it's taking 3-4 weeks at the moment :) I'm 37 weeks so mine may end up getting backdated as it might not come through before baby comes but it should be okay 🤞

It took a few weeks to first receive a letter confirming what they said I was due and I could have confirmed it then, although I'm self-employed and at first they said I was due a really small sum but I could pay extra to get upgraded to the full amount. So that added about an extra month as I had to pay through a different department and then wait until they confirmed it. So in total, it took about 2 months to sort out.

They do backdate it but yes it's annoying not to have it sorted before baby.

Mine has gone in without self employment (I earned £0 from SE in qualifying period) but with 3 employers (still employed by all). I got a text confirming receipt so hoping it goes smoothly and they agree I’m entitled.

3-4 weeks is brilliant. Last time i claimed it took more than 3 months Angry

Thanks @Honeydukesmum. Received my payslips (bar one) back today, but not the matb1.

Not sure how long this means from now but hoping it’s the 3-4 week category.

Hope they’ve taken note of the amounts and don’t try to offer me £20 a week like I’ve seen 🙈
