Yolk sac no fetal pole

Hi just wondering if anyone has any experience in not seeing a fetal pole. I had a scan today and was supposed to be about 6w and 6d but the EPU couldn't see a fetal pole or heartbeat but I did have a yolk sac. They said I'm measuring at about 5w and 6d but they said they wasn't worried and that it is probably too early atm. They said sometimes you can see it and some you can't and that everyone develops at a different rate.

I still can't help but worry though as I see a lot of people on here and other forums saying that they could see a fetal pole and heartbeat within the second half of week 5.

Anyone been through something similar?

The EPU are the experts, OP. If they've said not to worry, take them at their word.

I had a scan at 6w exactly that could see the two sacs but no heartbeat yet. Rescan at 7+5 was fine. It’s so nerve-wracking, but all you can do is wait. Try not to worry. I worried like mad and it was okay.

I had a scan at 5+6 and could see a gestational sac, but no fetal pole/heartbeat etc. They were not at all concerned - said it was in the right place and had all the chances of developing into a normal and healthy pregnancy.

The problem with early scans is we are all working on estimated dates as it's hard to know exactly when we conceived and then ovulated etc... and a few days in either direction can make a massive difference to what you can see.
Stay positive and let nature do it's thing xxx

I didn’t see the heartbeat at my 9 week scan. Baby was fine

Thanks for the reassurance guys. I'll just try and relax and keep my fingers crossed for the next scan! Keep hearing bad stories about it which isn't helping

@nacarlo89 Try not to worry - without sounding worrysome, if something is going to happen, it will happen... just focus on eating well, looking after yourself and staying busy :-)
Equally, you can have an early scan and things can still go wrong... it's the hardest thing in the world, but we just have to go with the flow and hope that all goes well xx

@SillyBry yeah you're right. I think it's just an itch to know everything is on track. I had a miscarriage earlier this year and I think due to that, I have spent the last few weeks just waiting for it to happen again. And I used to say that I think I'd enjoy being pregnant 😂🙈

@nacarlo89 I understand! I had an ectopic last year. Thought I’d felt fine after the placement scan at 5+6... but then actually just felt anxious til I got to 12 weeks!! Then started to worry until I got to 20 weeks. 🤣🤣

@SillyBry yep and then when they're born it will be worry until they're 18 😂

Roll on the next scan and will hopefully get some clarity

Ha! You think the worry will stop at 18?
