Why is my pee bright yellow

AhaShakeHeartbreak12 · 19/05/2021 16:20

That's it really, my pee is absolutely bright yellow. Almost neon, no idea why! I'm 27 weeks pregnant.

I'm not taking any additional vitamins at present (most of them make me constipated, still searching for the right one)

I'm on no other medication. I eat a balanced diet.

It's so random. Should I be concerned? It looks radioactive and I haven't ate anything out of the ordinary. There's no perculiar smell or anything.

Please tell me this is normal Confused

I was going to suggest vitamins. It's very common to have that reaction to the B vitamins that are in a lot of pregnancy hormones. Otherwise are you drinking enough?

AhaShakeHeartbreak12 · 19/05/2021 16:29

@eurochick I haven't been taking any for a while, caused me too much sickness so I've just been eating really well. I took folic acid up until 12 weeks.

I drink plenty, I'm so confused!

It's like highlighter yellow

UTI?

stuckinarutatwork · 19/05/2021 16:33

I was going to suggest B vitamins too.

AhaShakeHeartbreak12 · 19/05/2021 16:53

I'll see my midwife, hopefully she can send a sample off to see if I have a UTI. I've had no symptoms, just regular pregnancy aches. It's just really odd

Are you drinking enough water?

AbstractHeart · 19/05/2021 17:14

If you're vomiting a lot you're probably dehydrated

AbstractHeart · 19/05/2021 17:15

You need to drink extra water during pregnancy, especially when the weather is warm

JumpLeadsForTwo · 19/05/2021 17:16

Usually B vitamins - have you been overdosing on marmite? Grin

Peaplant20 · 19/05/2021 18:06

Asparagus?

Lchappers · 19/05/2021 18:27

Hi @AhaShakeHeartbreak12

This happened to me around 26 weeks. It was like apple juice.
Turned out at my 28 week appointment I had OC.
May be nothing and don't want to worry you. Could just be vitamins or not drinking enough. Just going from my experience. Sorry tmi but even when I wiped the tp was bright yellow. Have you any other symptoms?

Accidentallydeletedoopsss · 19/05/2021 18:30

What’s OC? @Lchappers

AhaShakeHeartbreak12 · 19/05/2021 18:36

@Lchappers what's OC?

OP posts:
AhaShakeHeartbreak12 · 19/05/2021 18:37

Yeah it's yellow when I wipe too

Intrahepatic Cholecstasis seemingly (?)

Lchappers · 19/05/2021 18:43

@AhaShakeHeartbreak12
obstetric cholestasis.
My symptoms started of just really yellow wee.
And bang on 28 weeks I started itching. Lucky I had midwife app that day. She took some bloods to check bile levels. They where pretty quick getting back to me. Maybe just suggest it to your midwife. Like I said. I don't want to worry you. It could be nothing.

AhaShakeHeartbreak12 · 19/05/2021 18:49

@Lchappers oh gosh. I haven't had any itching, just really bright yellow wee but I'll be mentioning it ASAP my 28 week appt isn't until the 25th

OP posts:
Lchappers · 19/05/2021 19:00

@AhaShakeHeartbreak12
Yes I would just mention it on the 25th.
I think from what I remember you have routine bloods at 28 weeks anyway. So the midwife may just add it on to the bloods you have.

Keep me posted how you get on. Internet if full of scary stories about it.

My baby was fine he's now 7months. and my bile levels where monitored throughout. And its actually really common.
Im actually pregnant again. So im keeping an eye on my wee Confused

MissSmiley · 19/05/2021 19:01

Mine was bright yellow when my bilirubin was through the roof (not during pg though)

AhaShakeHeartbreak12 · 19/05/2021 19:05

@Lchappers that's so scary, I'm glad your little one is doing well and congratulations Grin did you have to deliver early? I have a csection booked for 39 weeks due to minor complications with scarring.

I'm hoping it's nothing serious and just a weird case of yellow wee but it's got me nervous

OP posts:
Lchappers · 19/05/2021 19:10

Thank you.
Yes they induced me at 38 weeks.
Ahh don't be nervous. Honestly I googled it and I was a mess. But actually it was fine. I had to get monitored weekly and bloods taken weekly. But it was actually really reassuring to know every week ide see a midwife.

And it could just be something silly like food your eating or vitamins your taken.

surreymum89 · 19/05/2021 19:18

I have this too, 28 weeks , taking no vitamins as still have sickness and they make it worse , I do only drink milk though as it's the only drink I can stomach and I think that is high in vitamin b2 so I'm putting it down to that , so could be perhaps something you are eating/drinking a lot of ?

AhaShakeHeartbreak12 · 19/05/2021 19:20

@surreymum89 I'm hoping this is the case, I can't think of anything I've ate differently but I have milk in a bowl of cereal everyday but I'm not sure if that would case it. I'm gonna have a thing about it I've ate anything weird over the past few days. I'm definitely hydrated, it's so strange

OP posts:
allofthecheese · 19/05/2021 19:22

I was told it was that colour when pregnant due to not drinking enough water? Perhaps you're dehydrated?
