Buying a pram but not pregnant

We have a 2 year old, we are now thinking in the next couple of months of TTC again. The pram I love is in the sale with another 10% off. Am I a weirdo for wanting to buy it.. is it bad luck, or is that superstition just with your first?! Thoughts appreciated!!

Do you not have the pram you used for your 2 year old?

WithLoveFromMyselfToYourself · 18/05/2021 20:36

I really wouldn’t, not down to hexing luck or any such nonsense but just because it is a lump to store; if it takes time to conceive it’s going to piss you off/ sadden you immensely; other offers and newer models will come along.
I totally understand the impulse, but it’s a shit idea and I’d try to resist it. The world won’t implode if you succumb though, clearly.

yeah i wouldnt either.

just wait, its bad luck but also mad if there is an updated version or you change your mind in the next potentially year? before baby is here

@Anoisagusaris no I sold that. With my first I actually bought a second hand pram for £80, this time I would just like a new one. @WithLoveFromMyselfToYourself oh I agree, it's just so tempting as it's in the sale. I can put it in the spare room or loft I suppose. I think I'm just an organiser & like to think ahead, maybe too much this time!

@GettingItOutThere why is it bad luck though, is it just an old wives tale? I kept the pram for my first at my mums until a week or two before my first was born & my baby still ended up being seriously poorly in ICU. Wish I wasn't superstitious & just practical then I'd probably just buy it!

I like to plan ahead, and I had been coveting a certain pushchair when I became pregnant. Glad I didn't buy it because I found out it was twins at my 12 week scan Grin

I wouldn't either, I'm 27wk now and not getting a pram until much closer to due date.
You have no idea how long you may be ttc.
If it's not as easy as you expect, having a pram meant for a baby that isn't happening so easy will be tough to look at.

SillyBry · 18/05/2021 21:15

I wouldn’t be bothered so much about bad luck... but I’m not sure 10% is enough to discount to bother buying it early. There will be sales again before you need it!

Luckyelephant1 · 18/05/2021 21:19

Tbh there's pram sales all the time, 10% is really not that much. There's always offers on bank holidays, black Friday, January sales etc. And often you can get the pram you want or a decent travel system bundle for almost half the price on a discount site like Baby Planet etc or even Amazon, especially if you're not overly picky about the colour you want.

GAL8 · 18/05/2021 21:21

Wow @Scrunchybook that was a bit of a surprise I bet! 🤣

@SillyBry @Luckyelephant1 sorry, it's £150 off plus ANOTHER 10% on top. But I agree, there's sales most of the time, it's just a lovely print on the pram, it's the Cossato fox one, it's so eye catching & of course I now see it every day due to the internet algorithm.
