Pregnancy vitamins to take after 12 weeks

Hi all!

I'm 14 weeks pregnant and my midwife told me this morning to stop taking my folic acid and to replace it with a pregnancy vitamin but there's SO many.. does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm taking 75mg of aspirin and some pregnacare vitamins do say to not take their brand it already on blood thinners so I'm now only taking vitamin D.

Any suggestions? X

Nhs only says folic acid and vitamin D but you can choose to take others if you wish.

I have asda's own pregnancy multivitamins, £3.50 for a 60pk. I also take omega 3 capsules that I took pre-pregnancy from myprotein.com. I have extra folic acid as advised by my consultant too.

And folic acid is in the pregnancy vitamins so I'd be tempted to just keep taking the 2 you have already if it's suiting you

@Chelyanne do you mind me asking what type of omega 3 you take? There are a few different types on the site. Does it state 'ok in pregnancy' or did you have to check with your midwife? Or did you just keep taking them?

I find the advice so frustrating, everything says 'consult your dr before taking in pregnancy' just to cover themselves!

I take the seven seas pregnancy vitamins as the pregnacare ones make me feel sick! They are £5 for 28 days... but you can get 3 packs for the price of 2 in most supermarkets/boots 😊

@TheLovleyChebbyMcGee they say check with GP for their protein powders too, annoying because the online assistants are completely clueless too.

I have the essential omega 3 ones atm. I didn't run it by the midwife but the ingredients are classed safe and not had any problems, I only take 1 a day rather than 3.

Thanks!

The seven seas ones are good, not too difficult to swallow and no adverse effects. They're £3.50 on amazon.

Seven seas were great, no side effects for me and had days if the week on them so I could make sure I had taken them, despite my brain being a bit off! I used to buy them in Savers for a couple of pounds a packet so they probably have them in B&M/Home Bargains for similar too.
