2nd pregnancy gender symptoms

Hi, I hope this is ok to share, I am 14 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. With my first I was extremely sick, tired and nauseous throughout the whole pregnancy. That was 7 years ago and I had a boy. Now I am expecting my rainbow baby after 2 miscarriages and have mild nausea but haven’t been sick or off food at all. I wondered if this could be because I am having a girl? Really curious to know if your symptoms were different with genders or first and second baby?

I had the dullest pregnancy ever with DS1, no symptoms or nausea. This time round I had constant nausea, and went off every food and drink you can think of....I’m now 18 weeks with, you guessed it, DS2 haha.

So no, I think every pregnancy is just completely different regardless

I'm on baby number two, no sickness with either. Baby number one was a boy and my skin was pretty clear. I noticed early on with this pregnancy that I was really spotty. I'm having a girl this time! It may be purely coincidental but that's the only differences so far at 23+3.
Congrats on your pregnancy!

DappledThings · 18/05/2021 07:24

No. Symptoms are no indicator of the baby's sex.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 18/05/2021 07:45

I think it’s old wive’s tales, nothing more or nothing less, that symptoms are indicative of a baby’s sex! If you really want to know you’re only a couple of weeks off being able to book a ‘gender and well-being scan’ at a private clinic.

SugarCoatIt · 18/05/2021 09:10

I've two DS, and my pregnancies were very different.

Currently pregnant with my third (also DS) and so far this has been my easiest pregnancy yet and incredibly different from my first two.

I think all pregnancies are just different, regardless of gender.

SugarCoatIt · 18/05/2021 09:11

*gender, should probably say sex, before someone jumps on my post and corrects me

Accidentallydeletedoopsss · 18/05/2021 09:33

Every pregnancy is different and creates different symptoms. It’s not indicative of sex otherwise nobody would bother paying for private gender scans at 16 weeks because we’d all be able to tell without!
There’s some research suggesting links between sex and some symptoms such as severe morning sickness. Women with severe morning sickness are according to research more likely to have girls. However, you were very sick with your DS which shows that even research doesn’t apply to everyone.

So in answer to your question, symptoms don’t mean anything!

My dsis has had 4 babies. Same symptoms for each pregnancy, 2 boys, 2 girls. Symptoms are not indicators of the sex.

Purplesparkle34 · 18/05/2021 09:46

My two pregnancies were completely different.
With my first I felt great, had no sickness, and craved sweet things especially fruit. I had a girl.
With my second I was really sick, tired, and just felt rubbish. I also really craved savoury food, and lots of junk food. I was convinced it would be a boy but it was another girl!

namechangemarch21 · 18/05/2021 09:47

Generally the more nauseous you are the more likely it is to be a girl, but that's impossible to apply to a particular pregnancy.

I'm pregnant with number 2, totally different to first pregnancy, but had NIPT test which told us the sex so know its another girl.

BertieBotts · 18/05/2021 09:51

I think pregnancies are just different. I have had different symptoms each time, especially the last 2 times and I wondered this too, but I have three boys :) my mum had two girls but was so sure my sister was going to be a boy as she felt so different.

Mytinyman · 18/05/2021 10:01

With my first i had horrible sickness until 28 weeks that came back at 30 weeks and really bad car sickness, I had a boy, this time iv had mild sickness and only really car sick if im driving long distances and I am expecting a girl, my sister had really bad morning sickness with her boy but mild sickness with her girls

Worriesome · 18/05/2021 10:20

@PregnantLulu5 I’m currently having my 3rd girl and safe to say have been sick as a dog with all 3. I can’t really comment on carrying a boy but I know every pregnancy can be so different even with the same sex baby x

jennyt82 · 18/05/2021 10:22

I had 3 identical pregnancies, and my 4th pregnancy couldn't of been more different. I have 4 boys!!!

PFin · 19/05/2021 05:21

I have had 2 identical pregnancies, with both I got all the headaches at the start, hardly any sickness, horrific heartburn with both, low iron both times and went overdue with first and this baby is also keeping us waiting too. First was a boy and this LO is a girl. So in my experience i would say gender and symptoms arnt related lol! Good Luck!

georgarina · 19/05/2021 15:30

My first was a boy and I had very mild sickness, low neat bump, same cup size, lots of energy, and craved savoury sour things like pickles and lemon water.

This one is a girl and I'm completely exhausted, bigger all over, higher bump, leg/body hair is lighter and stopped growing, up 2 cup sizes, craving sweets, and had bad nausea and heartburn! Worse skin as well and greasier hair.

Any ideas on gender
