Hi I’m currently pregnant, I had the copper coil in..was removed yesterday & they say I’m 8wks +6days

My concern is I have my boy aged 6 & girl aged 7
In a 2 bed top floor flat, only stairs no lift access, there’s already no room as it is, my children have the larger room and I have the small room, can anyone help or advice of what I can do, this has been a big shock as I was adamant I didn’t want anymore children, but now it’s happened I’m over the moon :(

What advice are you looking for? Housing advice? I don't think you class as overcrowded as the living room is able to be used at night as a space to sleep in. - Can you get bunk beds for your older kids, put them in the small room and take the larger room for you, partner and a cot?

JustCatting · 13/05/2021 15:27

Can you get a sofa bed or pull down bed for the living room?

Then have the kids in the bedrooms?

Laundrydragon · 13/05/2021 15:38

In our area, in local authority housing sibling boy and girl over 8 need separate rooms... Can you get on the list to get rehoused and then try to manage while pg? By the time baby is here you might have a new flat. Baby will also be fine with you in same room until 6 mths (or longer in our case!) congrats and good luck op xx

you will need to sleep in the living room and have 1 bedroom for boys and 1 for girls.
you will not be able to get somewhere else

Is the flat owned/private rented/council rented, that will affect the advice people can give, and congrats!

nimbuscloud · 13/05/2021 16:00

Yes you need to give more info re your current housing.
Do you have a dp? If so what’s his housing situation ?

PineappleWilson · 13/05/2021 16:04

Are you in an area of high demand for housing (big city) or somewhere where there's likely to be less demand?

Mummyof2xo · 13/05/2021 16:10

Hi guys, Thankyou for all the advice and congratulations... I’m unfortunately not with the farther, he doesn’t want a baby, so that’s also my situation.

I live in the Nottinghamshire area, I’m currently in housing association.. hope this helps!

If you aren't with the father how did you get pregnant? You must have had a short relationship and he needs to step up! He needs to be paying child support as do the fathers of your other children otherwise you simply cannot afford another child. Many people have had to make the decision that they cannot afford a surprise pregnancy in stable relationships, me included.

nellly · 13/05/2021 19:39

Could you find our what the housing association policy is on overcrowding? It might be a while before you get rehoused I'm afraid, some good suggestion on here about you sleeping In living room and giving kids bedroom, maybe get light weight buggy or rely mostly on a sling so less to carry up and down stairs. At least your first two are past toddler stage

If you aren't with the father how did you get pregnant?

She was obviously with some at some point but not now

Start saving your wages quickly and cut back on any unnecessary expenses so you can afford to rent a new place that meets the needs of your growing family?
