Hi everyone.
I'm 19 weeks pregnant this is my second pregnancy. My first born is only 14 months and I have put on weight since having him but I have always been a bigger girl. From very early in this pregnancy I have been experiencing a lot of pain in my left leg if I walk to far and if I lay on my back I find it hard to get up due to the pain in my lower back (I still only have a tiny bump).I had this my last pregnancy but not until I was over 30 weeks or so which I put the pain down to sciatica. Recently I have twice in the past two weeks wet myself In my sleep but I have woke up straight after I done this I again done this in my last pregnancy but wasn't till after 34 weeks. I am to embarrassed to mention this to my midwife as everything is almost dismissed due to covid. What could be the cause for the wetting the bed ? Is this common in pregnancy? Thank you

Of course you have to mention it to your midwife. ASAP, I'd say.

Only last week I told my midwife pretty in depth stuff about vaginal pain and sex and she didn't bat an eye. They are used to hearing everything, and they want you to tell them.

Literally go and pick up the phone right now.

It sounds like severe sciatica, it can affect bladder control I believe due to pressure on the nerves. Absolutely mention it to your midwife, they'll have dealt with it before. Sciatica can start early in pregnancy, it's not limited to the third tri.

I will ring them today thank you. I also have the consistent urge to pee and nothing ever really comes out and they always put it down to a urine infection even tho it isn't.

Hi OP, I can't comment on the pain and I definitely think you should speak to your midwife. However, bed wetting can be stress related and given there's more strain on our bladders during pregnancy - it might be a mix of those two rather than necessarily related to pain. I have wet the bed on a number of occasions as an adult, always stress related, although I don't think I did it at all during my first pregnancy. However I actually wet the bed last week whilst I was 18 weeks pregnant. I was very very stressed about something at the time so I've just put it down to that along with poor bladder control.
