I had a scan yesterday. Estimated to be 10+6 based on measurements. I was told everything looked fine: strong FHR, everything measuring according to dates etc.
Sonographer mentioned something about a small blood clot , and asked if I’d had a spotting or cramping (I haven’t), but said it was nothing to be concerned about.

Then I looked at my report today and noticed it says that I have a “small subcoronic haematoma on the poster is uterine wall measuring 15x14mm”, I googled this and it sounds really really scary. Does anyone have any experiences to share? I’ve gone down an anxiety spiral 😨. Any advice/ reassurance much appreciated. X

I had 2 this pregnancy, I found out at my 12wk scan because I had a huge bleed whilst being scanned.. the NHS scan the day before didn't pick them up. I'd had no bleeding it cramps prior, I just felt wetness as I was being scanned, stood up and had bled through to the bed.

Baby was fine, I was very anxious. The kind Dr rescanned me 4 days later and baby was still unperturbed by it all. My MW were sympathetic but ultimately said, if you have heavy bleeding or pain go to A&E otherwise we will see you at 16wks.

By 20wks it was gone and I'm now 35wks

One was 15mm and the other was 11 or 12mm. Like I say I was very anxious, I couldn't believe I could bleed that much and have a positive outcome.

Good luck OP

Thanks for replying @BurningBenches and for sharing your experiences. Congratulations on reaching 35 weeks 😍. That sounds terrifying though- to have that much bleeding! I haven’t had any bleeding , but if I do I know it’s going to make me insanely anxious. The Dr was so casual about seeing this, but google is terrifying on the subject!

When I was 8 weeks with my little boy I bled a lot one day, bright red blood with clots etc. Expected I was misscarrying due to 5 previous miscarriages before that, I went to the early pregnancy unit the next day and they could see where I had the haematoma where the bleed had come from totally in disturbed my little boy and i went over 5 days with him. Although it sounds scary and the thought of bleeding while pregnant is really scary you'd be surprised how common it actually is.. I hope everything goes well xx

I had this, had a big bleed at 6 weeks followed by 3 weeks of brown/pink spotting. They usually resolves themselves, they just check them out at scans. By 10 weeks mine was healing, by 12 weeks it wasn't viable on the scan.

I had this with my first. No warning signs. It was spotted at 20w, together with anechoic bowel in the baby.

'Baby' is currently finishing 2nd year at university.

I had this. 12 week scan was all fine, then a huge bleed at 13 weeks. And I do mean huge, I filled a metal bedpan in hospital. Baby was fine. They diagnosed it with a scan the next day and told me that it would resolve itself by twenty weeks. At the twenty week scan the sonographer said she didn't know what I was talking about when I mentioned it. All clear. DD is 9 now.
Thanks it's a scary situation to be in.

Yep I’ve got one. I’ve had four big bleeds and daily blood since 10 weeks. I’m now 21. Mine was 7cm at one point (so yours is a lot smaller). It’s slowly reducing but taking it’s sweet time! I know how anxious it is so sending you the best and fingers crossed for positive outcomes for us both!

Littlebee1990 · 08/05/2021 07:07

I had this at an early scan, it had gone by my 12 week scan and I’m 39 weeks now 🙂 xx

I had a moderate to large SCH which resulted in a huge bleed at 11 weeks and then spotting on and off til 16 weeks
It was pretty much healed by 20 weeks and I had an otherwise uneventful pregnancy

I had the huge bleed a week after a scan, and the EPU doctor I saw after the bleed said it was probably spotted at the 10 week scan but they are so common at that point that they aren’t usually mentioned because the vast majority resolve themselves without issue, so they don’t like to tell women and worry them

If yours is only small, hopefully it won’t cause you any issues

GappyValley · 08/05/2021 07:17

From memory, mine was bigger than 50% of the placenta which is the cut off for them being a risk
At that size, they increase the risk of the placenta detaching and causing a mc, or for starving the baby of nutrients by restricting the placenta’s ability to pass things to the baby

If they are smaller than this (and it sounds like yours is), there isn’t a risk of either so you won’t have to have any extra scans or anything

Hope that sets your mind at rest a bit!

Oh gosh , thank you all so much for sharing your wisdom and experiences! I feel so much better after reading them ❤️❤️. I should never have googled it. I had no idea what it was at the scan and what questions to ask. For example, I’ve read that it’s much more dangerous if right next to the placenta or something? But I have no idea where my placenta is located. I’m just praying it disappears rather than getting bigger 🤞🏻. I guess I should prepare myself for a possible bleed. So far I’ve had nothing 🤷🏼‍♀️.

@bbb2019 sounds like you have been through the ringer! Amazing you are at 21 weeks though. Fingers crossed it finally passes and you have a less stressful second half of pregnancy ❤️.
