Covid vaccine in older mums - do they use AZ?

Hi, I'm booked in for vaccine on Sunday - and just wondering what vax I'll be given? I'm 41 and going to a mass vaccine center which I think has just run out of Modern and has switched to AZ. But I'm worried about AZ as family history of clots, and 37 weeks pregnant, and Moderna/Pfizer is advised in preganacy. Does anyone know if they have a few modena/pfizer kept aside for this situation? Or will I just be offered AZ? Thanks!!

Are they aware that you are pregnant?

I'd assume if they knew they'd invite you knowing they had the correct vaccine ready for you

I spoke to my GP this morning who said pregnant women need to be specifically booked into a clinic with a stock of Pfizer/Moderna - however, she didn't know how to find out or how to ensure I would get one of those two rather than AZ! So I'm going to the centre for my appointment and see what happens - the GP seemed to think I just wouldn't be given anything and would have to try again elsewhere.

Dizzy it doesn't ask on the form so there is no way of letting them know. It will be pretty obvious when I walk in though...

Ah I see. Are you able to contact them before hand? Otherwise you may be going down there for no reason :(

Annoyingly it was a Moderna centre, but they have run out today! Yes, I am preparing myself for a wasted journey!

You need to arrange it specifically through your GP so you get the Pfizer or the moderna. I did arrange it through my GP but they got it wrong on the first appointment (sent me in the afternoon and the Pfizer was in the morning) The clinic had switched to AZ and I wasn't allowed it. The GP rebooked me for the next day and I had the Pfizer then.

Ah ok catlady, thanks for that. I will phone GP tmw and see what they say
