Uk/Scottish ladies - self employed maternity allowance question

Hi I’m self employed and applying for maternity allowance. On the form it asks if you receive any benefits. I have been receiving Universal Credit due to being unable to work due to the government restrictions with Covid. So I’ve listed it but just wondering if my maternity allowance will be affected because I have been receiving Universal Credit? Has anyone been in a similar position and what was your outcome? Thanks

I don't know the answer but you have raised an interesting question. Have you paid your class 2 NI for the relevant time?

I think its down to you paying class 2 NI contibutions. Dont quote me on exact dates but from what i remember over a 66 week period from due date you need to have paid 13 weeks NI class 2 contibutions. This wont work out that much so u may have paid it through claiming UC.

I would say apply for maternity allowance soon as you can and they will issue award letter. If you havent paid enough NI they will detail this in a letter and give you an option to pay the balance to receive full materbity allowance instead of basic which is abour £27 a week.
