Supposed to be Induced today

Hi,

I am 37+4 and was supposed to be induced today as baby is below 3rd centile and movements are a bit slow.

The midwife on the induction ward called and said there are no beds available at 3:30 and to go to MAC for monitoring where they will reassess the situation.

What are the chances of me actually being induced today and has anyone gone through anything similar?

Fingers crossed for you. When I was induced with DS in 2019, we arrived first thing as per instructions, to be told sorry too busy. I was then put on a monitor for a bit and sent home.

They rang back about 2.30pm, after I'd had a good cry and we had been to a garden centre for cake and said there was space so we raced back up again and they broke my waters around 4pm

There wasn't really a rush to induce me, in that I was being induced at 40wks due to large (over 5Kg) predicted size so I think I was lucky that a space became available that day.

Everything can change so quickly op!
Fingers crossed for you!

I don't think anyone can tell you really.

It'll be a combination of available beds and how urgently you need to be induced.

Good luck! I was induced twice with mine. Very exciting Smile

Came in for monitoring at 4 and am literally sat in the MAC waiting room for the doctor to come see me. It’s been 90 minutes.
I have a feeling they will send me home with another date but feel like it’s a pi** take to leave me like this if the plan is just to send me home especially as my husband isn’t allowed to be here with me.

Yeah I’d be pee’d off too.
I would ask someone where they are so they know your actually still waiting

Maternity units are often the same, they have no control over who comes through the door and what they need to deal with.

It's not personal, just let it go.

I'd really push for more information about capacity on the ward and in delivery. I was induced and my induction was paused twice because of no beds in delivery - I was essentially kept in a medically induced state of early labour for 3 days, not progressing and unable to go home - and it was bloody miserable.

Obviously follow the medical advice but discuss your options and don't get fobbed off!

I was induced eventually at 8pm at night after an all day wait. It was awful - meant i was contracting all night so no sleep then it wore off in the day - still no sleep. This went on for 3 days. If it isnt urgent i wouldnt worry and try to get back in for a morning induction. I know everyones experiences are different though.

Update - doctor wants to induce today so have been given 2 options go home and wait for a phone call which could be literally in the middle of the night or wait in the ward for a bed to become available

The midwife suggested the latter as it’s usually quicker to push for a bed so I took her advice. Sat with headphones in watching greys anatomy ... it’s going to be a long night
