Pregnant with Baby Boy 3...What do I need?!

I'm due in August with our third boy - #2 was also an August baby. So I should be set clothes-wise. We have our car seat and pram still that we plan on using for this little one.

I'm trying to get together a list of all the bits I need - but it's been a bit since having #2. For all you second/third/etc time mamas, what items did you end up getting/needing - not including hospital bag bits? (i.e. new bottles, white vests, dummies, etc)

Just trying to get a list together and not forget anything!

If it's a bit of a gap is your car seat still 'in date' (they used to recommend changing them after a certain number of years - not sure if that is still the case).

I'm due in September with my 2nd. My first is 4, so I feel really rusty.
I need to go up in the attic and find out what clothes we still have etc.
I hope to breastfeed again - and last time didn't express until 6 weeks, so I'm hoping to hang fire on any bottles, but I probably should find my pump and check that it's still roadworthy!
I need to buy some lanisoh (or whatever the nipple cream is!) and all the glam bits like maternity pads and boob pads.
My old changing bag is still ok, but I want a new mat to put in it, so that's on my list.
I think I have quite a few babygrows etc, but I need to check it out and make sure!
A new mattress for the crib, plus a cosy toes for my pushchair as my first was an April baby, so we managed without one.
I've just treated myself to Ollie the Owl for white noise as Ewan the Sheep is long past his sell-by date, bless him!

@Seeline Our infant car seat is 4 years old, I think they advised 5 years, but I'll double check that!

@SillyBry Amazing how quickly you forget, isn't it?! I do need to go through clothes, but i imagine most are still ok.

I hope to bf again too, but I always take at least one bottle with me to the hospital as you just never know!

Didn't even think of cot mattress, so will add that to my list!

I'm planning on getting my car seat and Pram professionally cleaned as they have been in the loft for years now ...can only imagine how dusty etc they are currently!!

@lovelsa Oh god, I've SO forgotten! I'm like "I'm not ready to have a baby!!" Lol!
Car seat and pram cleaning is a great shout... I dread to think of what it's like up there!
I'm not finding out the gender this time - but I think we kept mainly gender neutral clothes... and I've bought a few new babygrows as I just couldn't resist!!

lovelsa · 30/04/2021 13:11

@SillyBry We did a class with our first and I'm seriously considering doing another class with this one lol

I'm too impatient to wait 😂 A third boy makes clothes easy. I've ordered a few baby grows (you have to, right?) and some vests. My sis in law borrowed quite a few of my clothes stash for her little one who was born Jan 2020, so just need to double check how everything is after 3 boys.

I'm in the same boat! But a 3 year gap.

Have got a new car seat for DS2 so that we can use either the baby seat or spinning one for DS3. Also just to take up a bit less room in the car.

Went through clothes and discarded any non favourites to give me an excuse to get some new ones as I think it's nice to do that. Not a huge amount of new but enough to quell the shopping urge and let me feel DS3 has some new things of his own.

Will probably look through the muslins as well as most have gone hard and crunchy from being used for weaning, parks, potty training clean up etc so could do with refreshing the supply.

New cot for our room as we got rid of the old one as I didn't like it. And DS2 is still in the cotbed.

Nappies, bottle teats, dummies on the list.

Bigger chest of drawers for shared baby /toddler room.

Some toys to occupy DS2 while I'm breastfeeding or huge in late pregnancy.

Babywearing coat as I expect to use the sling a lot more this winter.

I think that's it! We don't need a double buggy but a friend is kindly donating us one anyway. I might look into a buggy board, but will wait and see on that one.

I’m the same, due my third boy 4th August. There 4 years between all of mine 😂
I’ve got travel system, next to me crib, new baby grows and vests, nappies that’s it so far.
Prob just buy a bouncy chair, wipes, etc nearer the time , plan to bf also so not bothering with bottles. Not bought a coat or anything yet as not sure how the weather will be so I plan to buy somethings a week to two after he’s here. xx

Following this as I’m also expecting baby boy number 3 due 15th August! We should start a club!

Although in our case we rather stupidly gave most big things away before deciding to go for #3 so I need a new car seat, new pram etc! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I do have plenty of clothes and a next to me crib.

We have a 4 year gap between DS2 and this one and it’s amazing how out of the baby zone I feel now, my older ones are 2.5 years apart. All very exciting though!

Tetrixxs · 30/04/2021 18:51

Congrats on your third boy.
I’m currently snuggling DS3 who is 5 weeks. It’s amazing how much you forget!!
I’m using all the old clothes I kept & have already sold the newborn & up to 1 month... no more babies Sad
Good luck!

BertieBotts · 30/04/2021 18:57

Yes defo we need a third boy August club! :) My eldest is 12 and my middle one will be 3 when this baby arrives.

Really struggling with names this time around, feels like we used all the boy names we like already!

This makes me so excited! Can’t wait for newborn cuddles again. And third time you don’t have any soreness or painful feeding right?!

@BertieBotts we have struggled with a third boy name but I think we might have the one now 🤞🏻 We have a 6.5 year old and a just turned 4 year old.
