Midwife Booking appointment

Hi! I'm just wondering if you need to have your booking appointment before 10 weeks or if it's ok slightly after? Basically I recently found out I was pregnant but I don't get regular periods, Idid a clear blue test on the 17th which came back 1-2 weeks, I had a midwife ring me today to get me booked in for the first appointment, she asked if I had taken a digital as they are quite accurate, so I told her the date and she put me at 3+3 which I don't think is right at all I think I am about 5+3 On the clear blue instructions it basically says they date it 1-2 but doctors will date it 3-4 so I think she's essentially dated me 2 weeks behind, when my first appointment I think I will be 10+4 when she has dated it 8+4 and everything I have read is that you should have the first appointment with blood tests before your 10 weeks, is this true? Or will it be ok if it is dated wrong, it's my first pregnancy and I don't understand it all lol x

Many women have been having their booking bloods at the same time as their dating scans due to the pandemic. It must not be so important do do before 10wk if this has been going on so long.
Home tests are not a good way to date a pregnancy, if you want to get a better idea of dates you could book a private scan.

Ah thank you! I didn't realise that! Everything I read online says you need to have certain tests done before 10 weeks, but obvs not too important then! X

I had mine done 10+6. I was also concerned it was late

Did she ask when your last period was?

I had mine at 10+5. Pre pandemic. Dates were 99% right as it was IVF!

Yes she did ask when my last period was, it was written on the form which was mid feb, but I told her I have irregular periods that's when she asked if I had taken a digital, I feel better knowing other people were after 10 weeks though! Thanks for the reassurance x

Hi op I'm in the same posting slightly except my first booking appointment is on June 4th. I am roughly about 9 weeks pregnant although I think I'm further as my periods are irregular too x

However I have asked for a reassurance scan to make sure so I have it booked for 11-5-21 x

I’ve never booked in before 10 weeks even pre pandemic. First twice I had bloods done at 10 and 11 weeks and third time I had them done at 13 with my dating scan and screening bloods. It has always been fine

It’s the scan that it’s important to get done before a certain point.I think 14w. For nuchal measurement.

I went for a private scan at what I thought was 10 weeks but it was actually 13 so had to go back to my midwife and get a scan ASAP.

Oh wow! Yeah my first appointment is 7th June! So quite close to yours! And if I went by my last period I would be 9 weeks too but I was tracking ovulation this month so pretty sure I know when I ovulated! How irregular are yours? Did you take a digital? I am prob going to book for an private early scan in a few weeks anyway to make sure x

Awww bless yes that's so sweet. We will have our babies around the same time. Yes I did take a digital test. It said 3+ weeks so doctors rounded it up to 5+weeks. However I went by ovulation too. Mine have been irregular since I have my 2nd daughter. Then it stopped and then started again in January. Yeah I want to book private scan too but the dates around my area is 2weeks xx
