Hip pain at night?

Hello,
Has anyone ever experienced hip pain at night? I am 16wks and it has started the past few nights. No matter what side i lie on its really painful and struggling to sleep. Tried a pillow between my legs but didn't help. Got a phonecall with midwife tomorrow so will mention it but was wondering if anyone had any tips tp ease this?

I don't have any pain any other time than in bed. I have once been in agony and could barely walk but I done a long walk the night before and must have overdone it.

Thank you!

@Sarah5678 I've had this too and still get it so you're not alone. It's likely Bursitis ( inflammation of hip area from having to sleep on your side)- I haven't been to the doctor though. I've got a big U shaped pregnancy pillow and I also put a little padding underneath that, where the gap is to cushion my hips more rather than just mattress.

I find stretches are helpful too and found this wee video on you tube which is only 15 minutes -

Both of these seem to help most of the time but they were achey last night so it's not a perfect solution. Hope you feel better soon.☺️

@Sarah5678 I should say long walks really aggravate mine too...I'm guessing as our joints are extra loose.

I had this, would get it on the side I was lying on at night, switching sides regularly helped and baths before bed. My midwives just basically said 'ah bless you, just one of those things,' but didn't really give me any advice other than Paracetamol. You could ask to be referred to a physio for exercises to strengthen the hip and glute muscles.

I'm 28 weeks and have suffered with this from quite early on - it's so uncomfortable! Mine also aches in my knees, as well as outer hip, of whichever side I'm lying on! I spoke to my midwife who basically told me it was the result of relaxin and 'one of those things' that comes with pregnancy! She did suggest getting in touch with a physio if it worsened or I found myself struggling day to day.

I use a pregnancy pillow each night but it doesn't seem to make much difference!

Yes, I do (32 weeks) and have done since about 18 weeks - it is awful! The only solution (and it isn't really a solution) is turning from side to side morenfrequently and stretching my legs out and up into the air when they become too painful. My midwife also said it was one of those things and to put up with it unfortunately. O feel your pain though!
