I'm 29 weeks and soooo breathless but not even got a big bump.

First baby, my bump is actually really small for 29 weeks so can't be that. Anyone else felt so out of breath all the time even just after doing the smallest of tasks?

see your gp.get your iron levels checked.

I've felt out of breath since early pregnancy.

I agree with this! It's likely to be iron deficiency. If you've not had your 28 week bloods yet then they'll check for this and you should be told. If you've had the bloods already and not heard anything, give your midwife or surgery a call to ask. If they're low, you'll probably be given some iron tablets.

Iron deficiency definitely.

Theobear88 · 26/04/2021 18:22

I had this with my first from around 28 weeks!
I wasn’t iron deficient Smile

Another vote for getting your iron levels checked

RachShad · 26/04/2021 20:55

I had my bloods done about a week ago, strange that the docs have never contacted me to say they are low though but I will ring them and check thanks. Its just awful, I'll walk up the stairs and I am literally panting for breath I have to stop for 5 mins to catch myself 🙈

You need to see your GP and get checked out. It may be low iron but it may not be.

PurBal · 26/04/2021 21:01

I've had this since about 18w. I'm not iron deficient. I'm usually fairly fast so have eased off to a slower pace. But I think its more likely the position the baby is in because some days are easier than others.

badacorn · 26/04/2021 21:12

I had breathlessness starting in the second trimester and it was related to my heart. Nothing to get worried about in the end but it had to be checked out. It wasn’t iron deficiency. I think you should talk to your midwife.

Allsizes8to14 · 26/04/2021 22:29

I was like this and I was quite anaemic, started on iron but after a few weeks symptoms no better and iron had barely improved. Had more bloods and turned out B12 also v low. Had a 6 injection course of B12 every other day and symptoms have really improved. I’d check with midwife that iron and B12 were both normal

Thanks everyone!

@RachShad I'm not iron deficient but I'm so so breathless! Allll of the time! I'm 31 weeks on Friday! Drives me mad x

Peaplant20 · 27/04/2021 09:56

I can feel quite breathless at times, 29 weeks and also not iron deficient I’ve had my iron checked twice. It can just be normal - baby is pressing into organs taking up space and also you have loads more blood pumping round your body than normal. Speaking to other pregnant women it seems like it can be a very normal symptom x
