Trying to get pregnant after miscarriage

Hi Ladies,
I’m new to this, sorry for a bit of an essay.
I had a Mmc back in December, but nothing went straightforward, I went for natural route but wasn’t happening, so on 18th Jan I had the tablets to get things started, next day all passed.
February 20th I got my negative result, thought all good, then March 28th I had period lasted about 5 days, I thought great all has began to settle, when 2 weeks later I had another period which lasted around the same length, so now I’m confused on whether I’m ovulating if so when, hoping this month things will settle a bit more.
I just want to hopefully get pregnant soon.
Thank you and sorry for essay Smile

I am sorry about your miscarriage. It took me three months after a similar experience to ovulate. My cycle settled down in those three months and then I got pregnant again as soon as I ovulated again.

I have read others getting pregnant immediately but it took my body a little time. Good luck. I hope everything works out for you and quickly 😊

EmmT23 · 26/04/2021 12:49

Hi Dogsandbabies,
That’s really good to know that it was fairly quick for you, I know I have read different stories of people getting pregnant straight away.
Fingers crossed things will settle soon and things will happen 🤞, i seem to be going a longer cycle this time round so I’m hoping my period will be just once and settle back into a rhythm x

Condolences.
I've only had natural miscarriages so no experience of taking the tablets which I imagine may cause disruption to cycles returning to normal. It depends on how far along you were before mc too. My 1st it took a couple of months to return to normal, I was 12wk and got an infection. Our 3rd mc was at 8wk, had period 2wk after then bfp with our 3rd child 6wk after mc. Last was 5th at 9+3, took 3 weeks to get negative test, period 2 week after negative then cycles returned to 4 weeks. Took a break had a chemical 1st cycle ttc and got bfp the 2nd month, now 23+6wk.

Good luck

Hi Chelyanne,
I’m sorry to hear you have been through a lot, but so pleased to hear you have got an amazing gift as well, I’m hoping this month things will settle a bit more and then I will get my rainbow baby soon 🤞.
Thank you so much x

I had a mmc in May last year. Had to take the tablets and all passed by beginning of June. I then had my normal period in July and August and got pregnant. Currently 38 weeks.

EmmT23 · 26/04/2021 13:52

Hi GrandfheftWalrus,
That’s so amazing, I’m so pleased you got your little miracle, hope you have had a wonderful pregnancy, that gives me a lot of hope, fingers crossed it will happen soon x

Hi @EmmT23 I had a MMC at 13 weeks last October. My first two periods were normal and I ovulated those months but the third was a randomly short cycle of only 20 days. I got pregnant on my 4th cycle and I’m currently 13 weeks. Guess it’s takes a little while for things to get fully back to normal. Good luck, I hope you get some good news soon.

GrandTheftWalrus · 26/04/2021 15:21

Getting fed up now tbh. Daily injections, extra appointments etc. Just want baby here now

EmmT23 · 26/04/2021 15:34

Hi Jaymar,
Thank you for sharing your story, sorry for your loss in the October, but so pleased for you as well, i think it does take a little time doesn’t it, unfortunately patience isn’t my best attribute Blush, hope you a smooth and lovely pregnancy x.
GrandTheftWalrus hopefully not to much longer to wait 🤞x

Hi Ladies,
Me again Blush, following onto what I said before, I came on the 2nd May on a 21 day cycle, my app says I should ovulate around the 9th May, does that seem a bit soon after a period or is it because I had a shorter cycle?.
I’m really wanting to work out the right times to try and conceive, but not 100% things are normal or not, any advice or experiences would be great.
Thank you much love x

Hi @EmmT23 I’m so sorry for your loss, I had a very similar experience to you in that I had a mmc diagnosed in December, nothing came away naturally or with medical management so eventually had to get MVA 7th January. Took 39 days from 7th January for my period to return didn’t get another period for 36 days after that then decided to track ovulation with Clearblue digital ovulation sticks and got pregnant first month using those and am currently 6+3 weeks and terrified of having the same outcome as last time. I used to have a shorter cycle but I think the mmc skewed things a bit hence why I started tracking ovulation. I get that tracking isn’t for everyone though. I wish you all the best xxx

EmmT23 · 06/05/2021 14:39

Hi MJ2901,
Thank you for your reply, so pleased to hear you managed to get pregnant pretty quickly, I hope all goes smoothly for you 😊, thank you for sharing your story it’s good to hear that it’s not just me going through similar experience, I have been thinking about getting ovulation kits, it sounds like it’s the best way forward.
Thank you again and all the best xx

Hey there! I didn't have a medical miscarriage however had a d and c and experienced the same as you. I had a period a month later and then another one 2 weeks after that. I concieved 4 months after my d and c however my periods Still hadnt returned to my usual 27 days but instead ranged between 21 and 27, i used ovulation sticks and the clear blue ovulation kit as although i was ovulating around a similar time, i had no way of knowing which day it would be, i hope this helps x

EmmT23 · 06/05/2021 15:05

Hi Leafblower,
Sorry to hear you suffered a loss but so pleased you managed to fall pregnant again 😊.
This helps a lot, it’s good to hear that what I’m experiencing is some what normal :-), I think I’m going to try the ovulation kits and hopefully like you said it can then help pinpoint although day I’m ovulating or near xx

I am also sorry about your loss also , and thank you, i am currently 21 weeks along. I cried every time my period came as i am an impatient person and the months just dragged . i kept hearing stories of women conceiving first time and just felt so much pressure. Yes ovulation kits are great, don't put too much pressure on yourself or feel diheartened. There were months where it said i was fertile yet despite TTC at the right times i still did not fall pregnant, good luck with everything x

EmmT23 · 06/05/2021 15:47

Thank you, I hope you have a wonderful rest of your pregnancy x

Hi, So sorry to hear about your loss. We had a mc in June at 10 weeks, I didn't need medical intervention but it did take about three months for my cycle to return to normal - which was heart-breaking as I had read so many stories about being super fertile after a mc. It took us 7 months to conceive, and each month my dreaded period came I would heartbroken all over again, but we are now 11 weeks so fingers crossed for our rainbow.

All I would say is stay away from ovulation sticks! They bring nothing but stress and worry. We went for tests in London and even the consultant said they are the worst things ever and most couples fall pregnant within three months of not using them. I listened to that advice and then after a few months tried them again (clearly I know better than a fertility consultantConfused) , that month the tests said I didn't ovulate, cue emotional mess for 48 hours, but it wasn't true as we fell that month. I was using the expensive Clear Blue Digital - big fat waste of money.

it will happen again xx

EmmT23 · 06/05/2021 23:29

Hi happy go lucky, sorry to hear you suffered a loss, so horrible isn’t it, but so happy for you that you got your rainbow baby.
I know what your saying regarding ovulation kits, that is why I stayed away from them for time being as I didn’t want to put added pressure on myself or partner, so difficult and easy to become wrapped in it and become stressed and overwhelmed by it all xx

So happy this morning, got my first faint positive ovulation stick, so my mind is at rest knowing I am ovulating, so Jedi gets crossed just a matter of time x
