Should I go to hospital bad morning sickness 16+5?

I'm 16 +5 and due to my doctors surgery being incredibly incompetent these past few weeks they have unable to prepare my anti sickness tablets for the next perscription so when I run out, I have been absolutely ravaged by morning sickness.

This entire week in particular I've been waiting for my prescription since Monday. From Monday I've had a banging headache/migraine and had real trouble sleeping and keeping anything down apart from a few small meals. I'm exhausted and feel terrible, am I maybe really dehydrated? Should I perhaps go to a walk in centre?

You poor thing. How terrible that your doc isn't helping!

I absolutely would go to hospital. There shouldn't be a reason for you to suffer.

Walk in centre can’t do anything, except perhaps give you a prescription so you can get you meds elsewhere. If you need rehydrated you’ll need an IV and you’ll only get that in A&E. I’m struggling a bit to work out from your post if you are genuinely dehydrated or just exhausted and fed up(with genuine reason)...A&E can’t help with the latter.

A headache isn't typical for morning sickness (although can be a sign of dehydration). At 16 weeks it is often getting better so I would get myself chwe cked out. If you go to A&E they are likely to "stream" you to the gynae ward so you are unlikely to wait long.

OP, I really hope you get this sorted. If it’s a repeat prescription, I think 111 can sort you out an emergency prescription. But I guess this might not be considered an “emergency” if your GP is open in normal office hours?

Otherwise definitely make a complaint to your Practice Manager (I found mine very helpful when I insisted on speaking to her following a situation I wasn’t happy about) It’s not normal to have to wait so long for a repeat prescription.

Not morning sickness but viral meningitis which meant horrible headache and constant vomiting...I went to hospital and the medical staff put me on a drip to rehydrate me and gave me a mild anti-emetic, and I felt a lot better. I would go.

Hospital will be able to offer you more immediate help so do not suffer in silence any longer and get help there.

My GPS have been rubbish at sorting prescriptions out too, all digital now so it should be easier really.

Girlmama3 · 23/04/2021 08:16

A headache can be caused by dehydration. I would phone 111 and see what they advise. I hope you feel better soon x

Here are the NICE Guidelines - hope these are helpful :
cks.nice.org.uk/topics/nausea-vomiting-in-pregnancy/management/management/

Severe headache is one of the symptoms listed to seek immediate medical attention for, so yep A&E if you’re feeling that rough

My GPs are rubbish too!

+1 to complain to your GP. It's really not good enough. I presume you're putting in your requests on plenty of time as you know when you'll run out? Mine have been wonderful and expedited matters when mine took longer than usual and I rang up to ask.

Also +1 to A&E if you're concerned about dehydration. Are you weeing, and what colour is it? Should be pale and reasonably copious.

Thank you so much for the comments and support!

So after 8 hours in A&E diagnosed with HG and prescribed an anti sickness that you spray in your mouth instead of ingest as well as to set an alarm and drink water every hour. Unsurprisingly the hospital didn't have the perscription so had to pick up today only to find the pharmacy had closed by 1.30 (got there by 2 as I needed that long sleep!)

Felt so much better today though thank god and could actually eat a bit!

Will definitely complain to the doctors who actually sent the perscription today which is absolutely ridiculous. I was told I didn't specify what perscription I wanted and when I checked my emails, I actually did!

Forgot to add: had a CT scan for the headache, all clear!

My wee looked like gone off apple juice Blush

Dehydration was also diagnosed and a cause for the migraines due to the HG.
