I am 22 weeks pregnant, now and again I get really bad pain quite low down, like a period pain but quite severe.

It often happens after my first wee of the day. But it has happened at other random times.
The pain is quite bad and stops me in my tracks, it remains constant, and Could last between 5-10 mins before it eases off. At some point I can't move or walk for a minute or so.

I have had my scans and all has seemed fine with those. And I am feeling the baby move each day.

Any ideas what this could be? Is it just normal aches and pains??

SPD?

SinkGirl · 22/04/2021 15:18

If it’s right down by your pelvic bone, it could be the start of SPD - for me it didn’t start in my hips but literally where the pelvis joins in the middle as this was pulling apart (I had twins so had double the relaxin and the SPD was horrendous).

I think you should speak to your midwife ASAP. If it gets very severe or you get any bleeding, you should go straight to hospital. Problems like placental abruption can cause severe pain, or more of a bruised feeling - usually this is accompanied by heavy vaginal bleeding but it can be a silent abruption where the blood is trapped internally and the pain is the main symptom. It usually happens around 25 weeks so could be happening at this stage.

In fact the more I think about it, the more I think you should be checked out in antenatal day assessment - you should call your local labour line or whatever it is you have when there’s an emergency. Don’t leave it, just in case it’s something serious.

You okay OP?

walnutwhippys · 23/04/2021 07:12

Hi
Yes all okay!

It is only a pain that comes very so often, and has been for a few weeks. I've had check ups and scans in between and all has been fine!
I'll give the midwife a call just to check up on it.

Sounds like it could be a UTI or PGP
