Bloody show, but no other signs of labor?

Hi everyone,

So I’m 39 weeks pregnant, last Thursday I had what I thought was the bloody show (brown discharge) and was convinced that was it, I was gonna go into labor (google told me
It could be a day or two 😒) Ever since I’ve had brown discharge on and off, but no other signs of labor. I phoned the midwife yesterday because I was worried it isn’t my bloody show as it’s been going on so long, she said it is and just to keep a look out of other signs of labor. I’m SO uncomfortable now, I feel huge and get pain in my groin whenever I walk. I’m staying active and still trying to hit my 10,000 steps a day but it’s so hard now as I’m knackered all the time! Anyone else experienced this? I’m absolutely petrified of having an induction and really want to go into labor naturally, I thought the bloody show meant I would. Could I still need to be induced even though I’ve had a bloody show? At my last appointment baby was back to back and my midwife said it could delay labor and make me more likely to need an induction 😭

I always comment on these posts because having a bloody show meant nothing in my last pregnancy, went in to labour weeks and weeks later but you will hear from loads of people who went into labour quickly after it. I honestly don't think there is no hard and fast rule.

I hope it means something for you, the last few weeks are so uncomfortable and all frustrating.

Ohhh 😢 I really just want baby to arrive now, I’m so fed up!

Sorry I was the same as pp, lost mine about 3 weeks before labour started. The last days and weeks are horrible. You're nearly there. Have you got a birthing ball? I found that helped. Rotating actually popped my waters!

I hate that everything on the internet suggests it’s a sign of labor 😭 I have literally been living on my birthing ball, midwife told me it might help turn baby too 🤞🏼

Just keep reminding yourself that it's gonna be over soon, you can't stay pregnant forever. And then you get gorgeous newborn cuddles.

I hate to say it but same as PP. I had my bloody show at 37 weeks. Still was induced at 40 weeks with no sign of labour beforehand.

I had a show 2 weeks before labour. Nothing happened. I had had labour twinges before that but following the show everything stopped. O had about 3/4 lots of bloody discharge about 39 weeks. Then no baby until 41. I actually think it was just part of it as a huge a amount came out in labour itself.

You are doing well to still be doing your 10K steps. I was really active with my first. But I can bArely move this time, I'm 38 weeks and I've just stopped work. My hips are killing me. I'm getting really sore braxton hicks. The baby is nestling into my stretched belly from last time and is so low. Not been able to walk for more than 5000 steps since 28weeks. Just end up in pain.
