Huge stomach (not bump!) 16 weeks pregnant

Hi all,

Apologies if this is a ridiculous question but I'm a FTM so have no idea what is normal or not! I'm 16+4 with my first baby and for past few weeks have developed a huge tummy above my belly button. It always sticks out now (like I've had a huge meal) even if I haven't eaten for ages or have just woken up.

In comparison I have a really small bump below my bellow button so it just looks really strange and out of proportion!

I'm just a bit confused as surely it is too early for all my organs to be pushed up like that? I was a size 12/14 at start of my pregnancy and so far have put in 3kg so would be surprised of it's all fat. It's making getting dressed a bit tricky as stomach bigger than bump so things fit weirdly!

Just wondering if anyone else had experienced this?

This is how I carry. I'm pregnant with my 2nd dd. I joke that the bit above my belly button is where the baby is storing my internal organs Smile I wear dresses and that works well for me in 'disguising' it (not that I really care that much particularly - it's just my shape).

It might just be the way your bump is! Mine is really high up, starts pretty much under my boobs then bully button down is really soft and doesn't stick out. I'm 37 weeks now and it does a look bit strange!

I’m 14 weeks and a FTM too!

I’ve noticed a bump below my belly button which I think is partly fat/bloat and partly baby as I still have it in the morning and it’s bigger than I’ve ever known. I’ve also noticed it’s sticking out a bit above my belly button, so things must be shifting around already! Xxx

I carry high too. My abs give out above my belly button easier than below, especially after my twins. I felt them pop at 15wk with a sharp pain when getting up off the bed, they still hold up for squats and deadlifts though. My flabby belly sinks below bump as I have a lot of excess skin these days too.

Oh and I'm now 22+6wk now, above my belly button is all firm and I see lots of kicks up there too.

I get this weird effect where all my organs get pushed up (waaaaay before 16 weeks) and I thicken out just below my boobs. :/ I think it's just how you carry.

Thanks for all your replies- must be how I carry as you say. Good to know I'm not the only one who experiences this!
