Upset stomach after antibiotics? 16 weeks pregnant.

I'm 16 weeks and had a course of antibiotics last week for a urine infection (amoxicillin)
This is disgusting but since then I've had the most awful smelly gas. I hardly ever smell at all so it's quite a shock! My stomach just constantly feels uncomfortable and I can't seem to get relief by going to the loo.
Anyone has this? I might be blaming the antibiotics and it's not?

Maybe it’s slightly upset your gut bacteria! Could you try actimel or activita or similar to try and balance it out again x

I was on the same antibiotics for a week after my c section and it wrecked my bowels after taking it for about 6 days to 3 days after finishing the course. It can really upset gut health and essentially strips all the good bacteria from your gut, especially being pregnant it probably makes it worse. I had a mixture of constipation and diarrhoea and stomach pain, lovely! It will get better but try and up your fibre and pro and pre biotics (kefir yogurt!) to repopulate the gut bacteria Smile

Yes Amoxicillin can do that, in fact any Penicillin. The probiotic thing is a good idea - sorts your gut out. Maybe try Yakault or something similar. Otherwise just wait for it to pass 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Thank you all for putting my mind at ease! I got some Yakault yesterday and I ordered some optibac for pregnancy so I'm going to start taking those. I assumed all affects would stop after taking the amoxicillin, obviously not! x
