Diagnosed with UTI and scared

I've just been diagnosed with a UTI today and am on antibiotics 3x a day. I've got sore back pain and pain when I pee from it, and I'm quite worried. I've seen things written about it harming baby (I'm 15 weeks) and I'm so scared somethings going to happen to baby as a result... how long until the pain stops? And can it hurt my baby? Thanks

Don't worry too much OP. Loads and loads of women get UTIs in pregnancy, and only a small percentage of them cause problems. Sure you can find exact stats if you wish, but it probably isn't worth it. You've got it treated so you're doing everything you can. There's nothing else you can do at the moment. Presume your midwife gave you tips on how to help prevent it coming back etc? Not that anything's foolproof, but every little helps!

Please don't worry. UTIs are really common in pregnancy, hence why we are tested for them regularly. I had four of them when I was pregnant with my DS and he is absolutely fine. What have you read that says it can hurt the baby? As far as I know, it's you having a high temperature that can cause issues and that's mainly in the first trimester. They can also lead to kidney infections for you if not treated but yours is.

Thank you both ❤️ I read online that if it spreads to Kidneys it can cause miscarriage and early labour, which is what has lead to my panic as the pain is all in my back... but hopefully the antibiotics will help. No, no tips @FeistySheep - a very unhelpful GP who just said 'you have an infection, I've prescribed antibiotics' and hung up haha! But I have a consultant appointment next week at end of my course so can ask him then x

Oh that's a shame, but good that you have a consultant appointment coming up :) In the meantime, cotton undies, wipe from front to back (obvious one!), wash after a no2, pee after sex, drink loads of water!

@FeistySheep thank you!! ❤️ I feel like I'm drowning in drinking so much water but it might help me finally get that pregnancy glow if nothing else 😂 x
