Sweep success stories?

2nd baby. I've had a membrane sweep this morning, I'm 39+2. I was 1-2cm when she did it - she said it was "easy" to do and she felt baby's head. I've been having mild to moderately painful cramps on and off since but no pattern to them. What are the chances I'll have my baby in the next couple days?? I'm so desperate now! Sad

DD was born the day after my sweep. Same as you the midwife said she could feel her head when she did it. I went for a really long walk and spicy food after the sweep, and the day she was born I was on a march with older DD (preCOVID) so who knows what actually did the trick!

Fingers crossed it does the trick for you!

Thanks for you reply, gives me hope! How far along were you at the sweep? Did you get the irregular crampy pains after?

Dd1 was born 2 days after my sweep and it started with mild cramps straight after the sweep, I suspect you will go the same way too, good luck cx

I was 40+3 at the sweep and already 1cm xx

@sarahc336

I was 40+3 at the sweep and already 1cm xx

Thanks - do you think it makes a difference that I'm only 39+2 so not quite due yet? I didn't think it would make a difference if I'm already 1-2cm?

I got irregular cramps pains pretty much straight after. Kept logging them on my phone but wasnt any pattern to them. Had the sweep at 12pm friday had her 10.45 saturday. Also same as you midwife said it was an easy sweep.

Maybe op but all I know is I went into the sweep with no cramps and walked out with them and they didn't really stop and just turned into labour slowly. You hear of loads of women where a sweep doesn't even give them a single cramp so I'll keep my fingers crossed for you xx

I was 10 days before due date, had a sweep at lunchtime and DS2 was born 9hrs later. Good luck OP and congratulations!

My labour was more long than anything else. I was due on the Sunday 30th august 2015, I was booked in for a sweep originally on the Wednesday, but I started having contractions on the Tuesday so I decided to see if things would progress naturally. They didn't so I ended up having a sweep at 3pm on the Friday (40+5).
I got to the hospital at 9 that evening, was in the birth centre by 10.30, had my waters broken around 2am, then gave birth at 6.58am the Saturday morning (40+6).
It didn't hurt or feel uncomfortable at all and it did help move things along (the head wasn't fully engaged so things wouldn't have progressed on their own).
If I’m honest I was more physically exhausted after 4 days and nights of contractions. I think if I hadn’t been so tired I would have dealt with it better.

I had mine at 40+6. Midwife was (kindly) adamant it wouldn't work so she booked the next there and then and discussed induction with me as she was sure that would need to happen. She could feel babies head but I wasn't remotely dilated or anything and my cervix wasn't in the right place (for want of a better word).

I had my sweep at 3.30 on the Sunday. I had a daughter by 7pm on the Monday lol.

Stupid question here.. I know some people say their cervix were 'too high'. Does your cervix come further down the more ready you are?

Or are some peoples just high? lol!!Blush
