Anyone else have a proper chubby baby?

My 2 month old DS is a proper chunk!

I was a bit concerned at first that I was over feeding him, spoke to GP at his checkup the other week and was reassured that whilst he is a little chub, there is nothing you can do as babies are hungry when they are hungry and he is fine.

Anyone else have this and did it even our when they started to get more mobile?

Of course, lots of babies start off like that. Are you breastfeeding? As if you are you can't overfeed a breastfed baby.

Our youngest was a little cannon ball until he was mobile. Underweight then for the next 7/8 years, wouldn’t sit still, talked too much through school lunch then wouldn’t eat his cold food!
Adult now, solid 6ft 3 and still climbing Grin

I love chubby babies😍

My second one was a chubster, as a baby and still as a toddler. He was “overweight” at 4, according to the silly school weighting thing. Never paid attention to it. I let him eat to appetite, provided healthy food (no sweets or soft drinks), let him find his own balance, we’re a very outdoorsy sporty family so I was sure it would turn out fine

Happy days (wistful...) he’s now a lanky 6ft4 teen. But the chubby days were cute

I'm just sick of people going on about how huge he is! It's made me really paranoid that I'm doing something wrong!

My Dd was 11 pounds at birth and totally off the chart at baby clinic for everything 😂

She was a proper rambunctious little bugger from the word go.

It all even out and not she’s a 6ft power house of a woman Smile

Well how much does he weigh?

Chelyanne · 11/04/2021 11:40

Our son was always a chunk, was 4.88kg at birth.
His weight and height were always within a couple of centiles of eachother on the charts. Even though he was very heavy he was pulling himself up on furniture at 5mth and walking independantly before a year old. He's still on the high end of weight these days but still in the healthy range at 10yr.

User322495y · 11/04/2021 11:42

He was 14lb 1oz just before his 2 month check (I weighed him at home, the GP didn't and said they don't do it much anymore as it doesn't matter at this age unless they aren't gaining weight).

He just looks really big, rolls on rolls. I too think it's absolutely gorgeous, I just don't want to do something wrong though that could cause him problems!

No he isn't breastfed.

My daughter was a chunk. She was 9lb3 at birth and didn't drop an oz after. The HV didn't believe my that she was exclusively breastfed.

She was a late crawler as well so had real chunky legs until about 18 months when she finally walked.

She's evened out a lot now though (2years)

User322495y · 11/04/2021 11:45

He was 8lb 9oz at birth

Also should add op - I breastfed exclusively for the first three months before I admitted defeat and my dd didn’t lose weight those first three months.

My dd didn’t look like any of the other babies, mums would say - how many months now ? Ermmm well , two weeks Blush. It didn’t help that she had a huge stork mark on her face and then baby acne to boot!

Please don’t waste time with your baby worrying about this stuff....feed your baby properly, follow the guidance from your HV and your baby will be fine.

DD was 13 lb 2 oz at 2 months and continued to pile it on for another few months. She had massive rolls and had to go into 6-9 month clothes aged 4 months. Her weight gain slowed massively after 6 months, she was about 18 lb at 6 months but only 19 lb and 10 oz aged 12 months and she continued to drop centiles until she was 3. At 4 she's now fairly short for her age and on the skinnier end of normal weight. Some babies are just chubby.
