Early pregnancy revolting taste in mouth

I’m 8 weeks pregnant and my mouth tastes like I have licked something dead Envy

I don’t remember this from my first pregnancy but wtf can I do to get rid? I’ve tried various drinks, fruit, yoghurt, sweets and sucking mints but the minute I stop actually eating the 3 day old roadkill is back! It’s really not helping the constant nausea either.

Has anyone successfully managed to rid themselves of dead badger mouth? Tell me your secret!

Honestly nothing works, I had it for the first trimester, think it eventually went maybe week 15/16? Keeping hydrated helps as does apples for some reason, but not for very long. I brushed my teeth a lot more in the first trimester but 10 minutes later it was back again 🤢 definitely empathise!

I have this right now too. It’s vile and makes the nausea so much worse Sad I can’t stop eating to try and get rid of it. Early pregnancy is just awful isn’t it.

8dpwoah · 09/04/2021 21:26

It's awful isn't it, I think it has more or less gone for me now at 13 weeks thankfully, I think it's been fading away for a week or two after it being worse at weeks 8/9 so you might be nearly through it.

Fruity sweets and lots of water helped a bit for me, coffee was really bad as were sweet things (despite the sweets helping at the time I was eating them). I considered taking up chewing gum as a hobby 😂 but never got round to getting any.

I had this, along with excess saliva. It was horrid. Old fashioned boiled sweets helped but similar to you the effect was short lasting. You have my sympathy. It will end at some point!

BadgertheBodger · 09/04/2021 21:56

Boiled sweets might be worth a go! Basically existing on strawberry maom and toast at the moment, couldn’t drink a coffee if you paid me. Only another 5-6 weeks then until the dead badger fucks off. Righto Grin

@BadgertheBodger - I know the taste you’re referring to and I’m afraid I didn’t succeed in getting rid of it. I’m 15 weeks and still have it every morning and it lingers throughout the day. Whilst I’m eating it temporarily disappears but like you said the minute I stop eating it’s back... I’ve piled extra pounds on because of the constant need to eat just to escape the vile taste x

catinthehat12 · 09/04/2021 22:03

I have exactly the same at the moment, also 8 weeks. I have seen a lot of people described it as metallic? but to me it’s more like when I have a cold, an awful taste in my throat!

MeadowHay · 09/04/2021 22:04

Yes I still have this at 14 weeks, my second HG pregnancy. I don't remember having this in my first pregnancy either but maybe I've just forgotten. Despite the HG I also managed to put a bit of weight on so far through the constant eating in the times when I'm not being sick as I agree it's the only time you can't taste that awful taste. For me it tastes of sick though and obviously I'm being sick quite a lot still anyway and have horrendous ongoing nausea as it is so it's just disgusting.

BadgertheBodger · 09/04/2021 22:05

Yeah it’s not metallic, it’s much more like when you’ve got some manner of plague!

Worriesome don’t tell me it doesn’t go I can’t keep eating maoms I’ll be like Joe Exotic’s husband by the end of it, rattling off sugar and showing off my 3 teeth

@BadgertheBodger 🤣🤣 you make me laugh, mines hasn’t gone yet, as soon as it does (if it does) I’ll update x

SwatchIt · 09/04/2021 23:05

I had similar. I ate a lot of mint imperials! Probably why I’ve since had a few fillings!

Nesski · 09/04/2021 23:14

Mine left after week 14, then came back week 27. You might be in for the same treat Wink

Sunshine1235 · 09/04/2021 23:38

I had this, it’s awful. I used to eat sour haribo to make the taste go away
