Chemical Pregnancy, loss or viable?

Hi All,

Not been on here in ages but hoping some of you out there can give some advice based on any experience please?. I've been on a bit of a rollercoaster so far. I'll try and keep this brief!
TTC for 7 months, had a period as normal back end of March. Took OPK beginning of April and got 4 positive results in a row, then had a bit of a bleed. Took a pregnancy test just in case, came back as a strong positive. A digital date test confirmed I was 2 - 3 weeks pregnant, checked our app and confirmed I was 3 weeks due to dates of DTD. Bleeding became much heavier that day with presence of small clots, called the GP who confirmed early miscarriage and advised I re-test in 7 - 10 days. Being impatient I re-tested at 6 days and the positive result came through just as strong (the BFP appeared before the control line did!). At 8 days (today) I took another digital test and it's come back 3+ weeks. So the pg hormones are getting stronger, not weaker.

Is there a chance that this pregnancy is developing? Has anyone experienced this? I was sure the heavy bleeding meant a loss, but the tests seem to be telling me the opposite. I've left a message with my GP asking for blood tests. If anyone has been through similar I'd be so grateful to hear your experience. Thank you!

If you are still getting positive tests you need to be referred to epau for a scan to check what is going on. They will only scan if you are 6wk+ by lmp.

With a chemical you tend to get negative tests pretty soon either before or after bleeding starts.

Thanks @Chelyanne lmp was 3wks ago, so 1 wk after conception according to digital tests and app. All so, so confusing!

These two tests were taken on the 1st April. Shortly after the bleeding came

I took the normal stick on the 7th April and the digital on the 9th April. What does this mean with all the bleeding beforehand? Sad

It doesn't sound like a chemical to me. To be getting 3+ on a digital so early your hormone levels must be quite high. You need bloods doing at least and booking for a scan as soon as they are willing to do one.
There could be a few different causes but without tests it'd just be guessing. Good luck

@Chelyanne thanks for your advice. Just wanted to let you know we had an early internal scan today and saw our little bean's heartbeat. I'm 6+5 pregnant Grin

georgarina · 13/04/2021 20:43

congrats! did they say what it was? i had similar and it was subchorionic haematoma

FlipperyGibbet · 20/04/2021 19:16

Thank you everyone! @georgarina no, its not been diagnosed at all! At the private scan the sonographer identified the bleed (it measured 1cm...bigger than the baby at 0.7cm!) But was on the complete opposite side..very odd and has kept me anxious ever since!

@FlipperyGibbet so glad you had a good outcome! When I had a chemical in feb, my strong positives turned negative VERY quick, within a week. So as I was reading this thread I hoped you had a good outcome 😃
