Can someone help me riddle this out? Happy but shocked!

I've been feeling pretty rubbish recently - really bad stomach cramps and backache, insomnia and sore joints - especially in my pelvis. After 3 days of no sleep, I'd decided I had trapped wind and sent my boyfriend to the supermarket this morning to buy Wind-eze (which has almost completely stopped the stomach cramps). However, he also came back with a pregnancy test because, in his words, my face looks different and he thinks I'm pregnant.

I've just peed on a stick and it says 'Pregnant...2-3 weeks'. I am SO happy, but also SO confused. Can someone help puzzle this out for me?

I had my copper coil removed on the 18th February, in the middle of my period which lasted 17th-21st February. My boyfriend and I agreed that I wouldn't start taking the pill and we'd just see what happened. We had sex once on the 7th March (we'd been living with my parents and didn't have much alone time). I then had a period between 20th-24th March.

The test I used says I conceived 2-3 weeks ago, which would be 16th-23rd March. If we assume that I got pregnant on the 7th March, why did I have a period? I really don't understand how these dates add up at all. Will do another pregnancy test in the morning just to confirm, give my GP a call and start taking folic acid. But I was just hoping that someone could help me figure out what has happened where please?

Was the 'period' only light/short? Could have been implantation bleeding?

Was it a proper period? Could have been implantation bleeding?

Sperm can survive for 5 days I think, so that gets you to the 12th of March, which isn’t far off the 2-3 week pregnancy test window.

I’d do another test in a week to make sure it is progressing and is 3+.

It was 4-5 days with one really heavy day but it was the first one since my coil was removed so I didn't really know what to expect with regards to normality!

I hadn't thought about an implantation bleed though - thank you!

Thanks Elmer. Fingers crossed!

So if clear blue says 2-3 it actually means 4-5 weeks. I didn't realise that the first time I used one.

Congratulations

Phoned the Midwife service today who believe I'm about 4 weeks which doesn't really seem to be based on anything other than the Clearblue test. I guess we'll hopefully find out in June when I go for my first scan - fingers and toes crossed it all goes well!
