Positive and then negative pregnancy test 8dpt ivf

Hi,

This is the first time Iv ever posted on here so I’m sorry if Iv posted incorrectly, i so badly need some advice and really hope someone can help, I’m driving myself totally insane and can’t stop crying, I’m currently 8dpt (in my 2ww) I stupidly caved and decided to take a pregnancy test on day 5 which was negative, I tested again on day 6 around 4pm which showed a faint positive, I then tested again on day 7 in the morning (first wee of the day) and that was negative I was so upset and so I tested again around 4-5pm and that was a stronger positive, I then tested this morning and again negative and now Iv been left so confused. My actually day advised to test by my doctor is this Friday which is only 2 days away but I feel like I’m at the end now, Iv lost all hope.

Did you have a 3 day or 5 day transfer. it's still very early esp if not using an overall sensitive test. 3 days til friday can make a huge difference. you're not out the game yet but the 5 day one may have been from the trigger shot esp if it was a 3 day transfer.

Hi Bells thankyou for responding, I had a 5day transfer and I actually did take a test on 3dpt and 4dpt and they were both negative which made me think the trigger shot was out my system, Iv been using the same pregnancy tests through out, just the cheapy ones at 25 miu! Could it be a chemical pregnancy?

Not familiar with ivf but i would think the cheapies at 25miu won't show very early pregnancy and are quite bad with evaps.
I would recommend frer pink dye for early testing.
When i have my bfp at 10 dpo the cheapie didn't even show positive!

I’m so bad at taking tests, I’m totally obsessed! I said I caved at day 5 but actually took one on days3 and 4 which were both negative.

The faint positives then negatives could easily be down to concentration of the hormones in your urine. I would hold off testing again until Friday morning, testing too early can lead to a lot of frustration.
Does sound promising atm, good luck for the next test.

Chelyanne, I’m going to try my hardest not to test now until Friday, I really hope it’s the concentration and not a chemical, I’m so drained with overthinking. Thankyou so much x

I'd reccomend getting a freer and waiting til Friday and using first wee of the day. Sorry its so frustrating. You've been testing very early. Keep hope x

Was it a fresh IVF cycle?

If so, you’re probably picking up the HCG in the trigger shot - it’s the pregnancy hormone and hangs around for a bit after the trigger which is why clinics say not to test early...

Gappyvalley- it was a fresh embryo transfer but I did take a test on 3dpt and 4dpt and they were both negative, I had my trigger shot on the 22nd of March so that was quite a while ago. Confused

Hi @Willowtree35 definitely use frers only at such an early stage. To give you an idea my HCG level was only 60 at 11dp3dt (that was a frozen transfer though which can be a bit lower). Good luck xx

Thankyou, yes I have just been out to buy a frer test so fingers crossed... I’ll try and wait it out a little longer before doing it! It so strange that it was only yesterday afternoon that I had a positive and now all negatives 😩😢 maybe my urine concentration and was just lucky that time.

So this morning I did a clear blue test and a first response test and both had a very very faint positive, I’m now 9dpt.... what is going on, my official test day is Friday I no I’m testing a tad early but surely the lines should be getting darker? I’m also positive that it’s a chemical but I’m praying not 😢🤞🙏🏻

@Willowtree35 have you got a picture of the tests? Good news that there is a line so fingers crossed for you. Are your clinic doing a blood test on Friday? I know that some do and some don't xx

@Willowtree35 my first line was on a FRER in the afternoon of 7dp3dt (so equivalent to 5dp5dt) but it was an absolute squinter and I couldn't be sure it was a line. I actually found my lines to be darker late afternoon rather than with FMU for some reason

Ok, so mine are occasionally darker in the afternoon too but then they seem to light again, I’ll try and attach a photo to show u the faint lines of this morning tests but they’re so light that they may not show up so well on a camera

@MabelG ok so it won't let me immediately post images apparently as I'm a new user, but when I say faint line I mean faint, not as faint as a squinter tho x

@Willowtree35 well it sounds good at this stage 🤞 Assume you are 10dp5dt now so if you have a noticeable line that is good. HCG doubles every 2-3 days and because it's early the numbers will be low and the line progression won't appear to change much day by day. Also if you have drunk a lot of water it can affect how dark the line is. I know how difficult this bit is, I lost count of the amount of tests I did

@MabelG sadly today my tests are negative, I'm heartbroken! Thankyou so much for all ur support, Onwards and upwards, I have 3 embryos frozen so I'm going to book in for another cycle 🙏🏻🤞
