At home photo shoot! Tips and ideas?

Hi all! I’m planning to take my own “at home” photos given covid. Wish me luck!Any ideas on nice maternity brands to get some clothes for these? I feel clothing is the only thing that I can control given my non photographic background. I only have an iPhone so may be tricky to get some good quality ones. Also - any tips on getting good photos done at home / when doing it yourself?

Use your timer so you can set it up and walk away, rather than selfies.

Clothes-wise I have no advice, mine all came from h&m or homesewn (strapless maxi dress, for example, soooo comfy!).

Do a couple of comedy ones - paint the Alien on for example, rather than hearts etc.

Congratulations Flowers

Thank you @elQuintoConyo! I'll definitely use these!

Buy a cheap white king size sheet and use it as a back drop? Add another to the floor too. If you wanted to go all out you could dye the sheets a certain shade or colour for the backdrop.

Definitely use a timer on your phone and see if you can borrow a tripod or anything similar.

I did manage to get a local photographer to do a mini outdoor shoot for £50 with electronic photos included which was done in our local park and it was lovely if you want another option / your photos aren’t what you wanted and your hormones go crazy 🤣

Oh fab idea! I think that's a good tip now that we can meet outdoors - will check if can find someone. A part of me likes the idea of doing it in the privacy of home though but understand that the quality of pictures may not be the same! 🙈

Oh, I love doing home photoshoots but I rarely have enough patience to fullfill the ideas properly lol
Finding a local photographer is the best option imo, but you can do the pictures on your own as well. Getting a tripod as Formulation123 said is a good idea or at least find some place to put your phone or camera (so that you wouldn't have to hold it) and use a timer. I also highly recommend taking several pictures of the place itself before your photoshoot just to see the lightning and the way colors look.

Some posing ideas may be found here- thatlifeabroad.com/home-photoshoot-ideas/ Your outfit will depend on the idea as well, I once made a home photoshoot where I recreated Taylor Swift album covers and wore clothes of particular colors and style Grin If it's just something fun with no particular theme, then I think any outfit and casual make up will do.

As far as I know, Iphones have pretty good cameras, so the quality is going to be good, don't worry about that. Besides, there is a bunch of free photo editors that can help with fixing red eyes or color correction, etc. Use something like Photodiva or Gimp if you aren't happy with the result and you'll be fine.

Backgrounds are the hardest part imo. You can use fabric or just look for a nice corner in your house, but if it doesn't work, you can add another background to your photos later (here is a guide that I followed for doing so). Outdoor photos are better and easier if we speak about backgrounds, especially if the weather is nice.

Some fab tips thanks All! I'll need to do some prepping and then try it out I guess! Not sure why this makes me nervous if it's just photos at home?! 😳 I guess it's the fact it's such an important moment that I'm worried they won't be good enough and that I'll regret not doing them professionally but with Covid it's trickier!
