Pregnant and possible covid

Hi I've never done this before mostly just read other people's for reassurance. I'm 10 and half weeks pregnant and have been in contact with someone at work who tested positive the day after I seen her. I haven't been feeling too bad but not been 100% I'm so worried about baby and I have been driving myself mad looking at things on the Internet. Has anyone else had covid or know of anyone that has had it their first trimester? I called my midwifes office 3 times and they said they passed on a message but she never got back to me, I guess I just wanted some reassurance from her.

I haven’t personally but bumping for you! Someone on the pregnancy group I’m on on facebook for July babies had it in the first trimester and mum and baby are both well. There’s no evidence to suggest there would be any problems in the first or second trimester x

Thank you so much for your reply. That is good news and reassuring thank you

@Lox0018 someone I know had it at 6 weeks! Absolutely fine! The risk In pregnancy I believe is later on at 28 weeks as lung capacity is already reduced, just take paracetamol to keep temp at bay and you will be fine!! Xxxx

Hi OP, I also caught it at 10 weeks pregnant. I won't lie I felt really unwell for 3 weeks, and wasn't feeling well for about 6 weeks in total. It also brought on pregnancy reflux really early which has started with me now. I still can't smell or taste normally now at 26 weeks, BUT the good news is baby was absolutely fine. GP and MW were quite reassuring about it at the time - the main thing to watch for is a high temperature - use paracetamol to get it down if you do get that.

Thank you for responses. @SamoyedFan123 I'm sorry you were unwell but really glad to hear that baby is well. I've been taking my temperature twice a day and so far its normal so will just keep checking. Thank you so much its really good to hear other peoples experiences, I really appreciate you replying, its very reassuring x

Hi OP,
I had covid, wasn’t first trimester (17ish weeks I think), but was asymptomatic, picked up in work. DH got it too and felt grim for a few days. Our kids didn’t! Lucky I was fine. I’m 30+ weeks now, baba is doing well according to all scans!

I know several people who have had it in pregnancy (HCP so lots via work), and as a poster said above, it’s riskier in later pregnancy when baby puts pressure on your lungs.

I caught covid at 5-6 weeks pregnant and was ill with it for about 7 weeks. I am now 19 weeks along and so far all has been fine and looking well with baby (I've had scans at 7, 10 and 16 weeks)

I had it at 7 weeks pregnant! Baby is now a healthy 5 month old, my consultant wasn't remotely concerned when I told him and all was well. My main concern was that I had a temperature 🌡and I wanted to keep that down as best I could. I just took paracetamol regularly and ate ice lollies. I'm sure it will all be fine. X

Lox0018 · 03/04/2021 19:26

Thank you for your replies, I'm now feeling a bit better about it all and will calm down xx

I had it in second trimester and it was pretty rough but got through it and was fully recovered from the tiredness after about 3 weeks. Just drink as much fluids as possible and lots of rest (more than you think you need). You'll be fine!

Mrsmch123 · 03/04/2021 20:37

Hi I had it at 11 weeks. Was neither up nor down. I'm now 27 weeks and everything has been fine with the baby.x

Mother2princess · 03/04/2021 21:48

There's ladys in this Facebook group called the parent network who are pregnant and have had it

PFin · 04/04/2021 02:33

I have had covid twice this pregnancy. Once at around 8 weeks and again at 22 weeks. Book yourself a test to find out for sure for starters. Research has shown pregnant women are at no higher risk until the third trimester. My pregnancy has been fine and has had no covid related complications at all.

nellly · 07/04/2021 16:18

I had Covid before being pregnant but I will say my midwife during booking appt specifically said Covid was no problem during 1st or 2 nd trimester (unless of course you have additional risk anyway)

She said I should be more cautious and think about wfh exclusively in third trimester
