Pain in early pregnancy

Hi everyone.

I found out last week I was pregnant! YAY.

But I found out because I have shooting pains that come and go a few times a day in my uterus. These pains only last a few minutes at the time. Bad enough to wake me up.

I went to the GP. I was examined. Nothing to worry about. Urine sample - clear, no infections.
I had two blood tests over two days, my HCG levels are rising and I'm most likely 4-6 weeks pregnant. So again all normal.

3 days of weird sharp burning pains, that wake me up in the middle of the night. Then nothing for 2 days. Apart from exhaustion & sore breasts.

Then another middle of the night wake up call from the pain. I'm nauseous and a little faint. I feel like I need to open my bowels but can't. I'm very constipated.

I end up in a&e. Again bloods, urine sample, physical examination - all clear. They said it could be constipation or hormones. Nothing to worry about and they do not suspect an ectopic pregnancy.

Anyone else had something similar is early pregnancy??

I'm feeling super lonely in this and I'm obviously worried. I have booked an early scan for re-assurance too....

Hi I had lots of pain in the first trimester. It was so bad all I could do was curl in a ball and text my husband to bring me a hot water bottle - I couldn't even call to him to come help. It was likely round ligament pain, and it stopped by the end of the first trimester - I'm now 35 weeks and baby is very active! I spoke to the midwives when I was in that early stage and they advised as long as there was no bleeding they weren't concerned, though i did also have a check for a water infection just in case.

The early stages are rough but hold in there, it gets easier in the second trimester!

I had pains very similar to how you describe OP, I was worried at the time but I'm now 32+5 weeks and all has been healthy through the pregnancy.

It's likely the pain is made worse by you being constipated aswell, even now I still get constipated a lot and the pains can become unbearable. The first trimester I went back and forth between constipated and diarrhoea!

If you think it would help and can afford it, book a private scan in a couple weeks time to put your mind at ease but pregnancy is full of weird and wonderful pains so don't worry too much about it

Thank you so much for replying! I hope this is the case and I'm hopefully just freaking out for nothing.

I decided to come home from work yesterday to look after myself.

Where you exhausted too?
Did you have any other symptoms?

Hi Lou98

Thank you so much for replying!

How often did you have the pains and where were they?

Did you have any other issues?

Hi,

Sounds very similar to me and been going on weeks (we're 11 wks this wkend) .. And I'm now putting it down to being horrendously constipated (sorry tmi)
I had an early scan with worry and all fine. I've called the EPU a few times and explained and they also think it's the constipation and things growing too.
Makes sense as I really am struggling to go (nothing for days and days even with taking fybogel my Dr gave me) it's getting more painful and when I can feel things maybe moving in my bowel I get the pain worse. I've just woken up with it so praying today is the day 🙏🏼😂
