Hi, I think I’m just looking for some reassurance..

I am just about 8 weeks pregnant, identical twins.
While this is exciting news and a blessing and I was hoping to get pregnant, I already have 2 children and had not considered the possibility of 2 arriving at once so I have been flooded with anxiety over the risks to ID twin babies in pregnancy, the reality of newborn life with 2 being very different to my previous experiences, general life juggle with 4 kids etc..

To compound my anxiety I tested positive for covid today (relatively mild symptoms luckily) so now feeling so worried about implications for the babies given that this is such a crucial stage for brain development etc and there is little known yet about possible impact of covid on foetuses in the first trimester.

I was thrilled when I got my positive pregnancy test result and am very grateful but I’m just finding it so hard to shake this overwhelming feeling of anxiety at the moment.

If anyone has any words of reassurance or positivity regarding the covid 1st trimester worries or twins plus big family juggle, please do share.
Thank you ❤️

I think you and the little ones will be fine. You’ve got an immune system that can fight off most issues put in front of it, we all would do well at remembering that - put a little trust in it.
Oh and congrats 🎉

I had covid at 9 weeks with mild symptoms. I'm currently 23 weeks and baby boy seems fine. Nothing wrong at the 20 week scan, he is on the smaller side but that could be because neither me and my husband are particularly big.

In my experience having covid hasn't affected me or the baby.

I know it's not exactly the same situation as I'm not having twins but I hope that this has helped a little bit and I wish you all the best going forward Smile

Sorry to hear you've got this stress but from the research that's been released so far, it indicates that there's no real risk to baby and in fact you should pass on immunity so they're protected from birth. The only real risk seems of Covid during pregnancy seem to be if you're high risk yourself and are late in the third trimester when your lungs are restricted. Try not to worry, just look after yourself and get lots of rest.

My daughter is, as we speak, meeting her friend's 5 month old DD for the first time. Mum contacted Covid at 8 weeks pregnant and baby is absolutely fine. DD has just sent me a photo and little one is sitting up on a picnic blanket beaming at the camera. Congratulations on your pregnancy and I hope your symptoms continue to be mild and pass quickly.

Thank you so much everyone, I really appreciate your input and well wishes. Each post has helped so thanks for taking the time.

@RubyUnicorn I’m glad to hear it sounds like your covid experience was manageable and that you’re both doing well. I wish you the very best with your pregnancy and beyond.
