Hey, my last period was 24/2/21 so 5 weeks pregnant.
On Tuesday I attended the early assessment unit as I was having pain in my lower right side, they suspected an ectopic pregnancy, my bloods were taken and HCG levels were 3,000, they asked me to come back the following day for an internal scan which I did, they could see the sac but couldn’t see a yolk sac inside it.
I’m booked in for a second scan next week to see if the yolk sac has formed or if a miscarriage has occurred. Has anyone had any experience of this? I’m struggling to stay positive.

5 weeks is very early to see anything but a small sac... mostly a scan at that gestation might be used to see that the pregnancy is in the right location (hoping yours is??).

It'll just be a waiting game. Pains (even one-sided) are super common in early pregnancy - but you've done the right thing to get it checked out.

I had something similar yes - I had some bleeding at about 6 weeks pregnant and a lot of pain in my right side. The EAU did an internal scan (no bloods though I don't think, all a bit of a blur now). They could see the sac but no baby and said it was measuring a bit small and unable to say whether the pregnancy was ongoing. I had to go back 2 weeks later and in my case there was indeed a heartbeat detectable. We had another rocky few weeks and more bleeds but she's 8 months old now and asleep on me.

My bowel was in spasm which was probably what the pain was. The bleeding was just one of those things I think.

It is so so scary and horrible and the time goes so slowly. I'm really sorry you're having the worry but there is reason to be optimistic still. Be kind to yourself these next few weeks and keep busy as much as you can x
