ICSI day 5 fresh transfer having bleeding is this a bad sign!?

Hello
So for some background this is my second round of IVF. We did ICSI this time and had a 5 day blastocyst transferred 12 days ago.
I started with some spotting about 7 days after transfer but then a few days later it’s turned into more of a bleed. It’s not filling a pad but it’s there when I wipe. The clinic started me on progesterone injections yesterday but today I’ve woken up with cramping (not terrible pain but definitely noticeable) and I’m getting little clots in the blood. I got positive pregnancy tests from 8 days after transfer.

Has anyone been in the same position? Is this a bad sign it’s going to end in miscarriage?

I had quite a lot of bleeding between 5 and 6 weeks pregnant after my 5 day transfer (FET in my case after ICSI). I also had cramping from the time of transfer until about 12 weeks. My clinic attributed both to my progesterone pessaries. So far things are all good at 18 weeks.

I think these things can go either way, but just to encourage you that 'it's not over til it's over' as they say. I hope it works out well for you!

Thank you so much for your reply. Your situation sounds very similar to mine and I’m trying to stay as hopeful as possible but not get my hopes up too much if that makes sense!
Was there anything that you did in the early days that helped with the bleeding or cramping?

I probably should have gone to A&E to be honest, having spoken to the midwife about it since, but it was over new years eve so my clinic was shut and covid cases were so bad that I decided to go for a private scan at 6 weeks (earliest they'd see me) and that showed a heart beat. I figured if that scan showed the pregnancy in the wrong place or something I'd go along to the hospital. That sort of helped me relax until the IVF viability scan.

..but no, in terms of symptoms nothing helped the cramping and the bleeding just sort of stopped and started for a bit on its own and then went away thankfully.

I used a weighted blanket for the anxiety of it all! Not specifically related to pregnancy though.

It’s so tough isn’t it. It’s the not knowing that I’m struggling with.
My clinic have said they’ll do a blood test tomorrow to check my hormone levels and then again in 48 hours to make sure they are rising. Hopefully this will give me peace of mind or let me know it hasn’t worked this time :-(

Hope everything continues well for you in your pregnancy
