Anyone have stories of definitive false negatives? Perhaps very far along?

Google Hook Effect.

PamDenick · 29/03/2021 21:25

So, does this only happen in the third trimester?

Not always. My tests with my 2nd were negative from 10 weeks.
PamDenick · 29/03/2021 22:08

What exactly is it your looking for? It's common to get false negatives early on when there isn't enough hcg. And it is possible to get negatives when the hcg is too high for the tests

I suppose im looking for a reason why I might be having possible fatal movements (def something in my abdomen) but have had several neg tests.

Its certainly not early days but somewhat overweight so hard to tell if its protruding...

Well if you were quite far along then the pregnancy would have been confirmed in other ways? And from what I’ve read, although the hook effect is a thing, it’s not very common at all.

PamDenick · 29/03/2021 22:39

I don't know how to confirm it. Doctor won't see me as test is negative.

They obviously would see you if you are saying there’s something in your abdomen causing issues Confused

PamDenick · 29/03/2021 22:44

Yes. need to try phoning them again.

Have you had missed periods ect and any other symptoms?

They certainly would see you if you told them.
And if you are far along enough to feel movements, you'd have at least missed 3 periods.. Which they will also see you for

PamDenick · 29/03/2021 23:05

Ok, thanks. I think I must have caught them at the end of a long day when I called them and I didn't really explain all the symptoms.

Doctors will usually see you once you've missed 2 periods.

I presume you have?
