HELP. I’ve had 3 separate midwives assume I’m having a boy? Do they know the sex? How?

I had my midwife say ‘oh and so your having another boy’.
Her cover replacement also asked what gender I had at home and mention ‘oh and your having another one how lovely’
And then in triage the lady only looked at my notes and monitored me and she said the exact same thing!
I’m obviously convinced that I’m having a boy now and sooo happy either way, but we didn’t want to know 😔.

Is there a code somewhere in my notes? How could they all know otherwise? or say the exact same thing!

It must be on your notes somewhere.

Ask your midwife the next time you talk to her.

FruitLoopzz · 29/03/2021 07:48

That sucks! Especially as you don’t want to know x

It said really clearly on my notes - it was on the 20 week scan report, it said 'fetal sex: male'. I assume that it wouldn't have done, at least in the notes I could see, if I hadn't wanted to know, though. Are your notes electronic or handheld?

Pev90 · 29/03/2021 10:13

They’re hand held notes but I’ve read all the reports from the scans and practically the whole thing front to back 😂. I can’t see it written a anywhere that’s why I was wonder if there was a code or something 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don't like 'the way you're carrying' conviction but... I carried really low and round for both and everyone predicted a boy!

Green3094 · 29/03/2021 13:15

Before I found out I was having a girl 2 midwives and a student past comment on how lovely it was to have girls!! I asked my midwife how she knew before the scan and she said the heartbeat girl have a slightly faster heart rate than boys apparently so they know it's crazy

CovidCorvid · 29/03/2021 13:19

I’m a midwife and where I work I wouldn’t know, nothing in the notes. The sonographers don’t even look unless asked and even if they do look they don’t document it anywhere.

Only exception might be if you’ve had something like an amnio or cvs....I believe in the detailed report it might say there but I don’t work in clinic so am not sure and never read the reports.

CovidCorvid · 29/03/2021 13:20

And the heart rate thing is rubbish. And the way you’re carrying thing is also rubbish.

Green3094 · 29/03/2021 13:21

@CovidCorvid thank you for clearing that up 😂😂 that's made me laugh..
