Please tell me I’m not alone. This is my second baby and I’ve just not found the time to get anything sorted for the new baby. Literally not one single thing. I need to get started, I know, but it seems so overwhelming now that I’m putting it off which I know is daft. I’m exhausted from having a toddler and working that when I have the free time to sort baby bits I choose to sleep instead. Please can someone tell me where I should even begin!

You're definitely not alone. I'm 35w with my 3rd baby (other two children are 3yr old and 19m old). For weeks on end I've been telling myself this weekend I'll get the majority of things done and that weekend still hasn't happened. But this weekend, l need to do my hospital bag, so will definitely be crossing that off my lost by Sunday

I'm 27 weeks. I'm just making lists and giving them to my husband to deal with Grin

I didn't start until 36 weeks getting stuff for my second 😂

Quail15 · 26/03/2021 18:59

you are not alone. I'm 35 weeks. I didn't start anything as I knew I was starting mat leave early (at 33 weeks) so I thought I would leave everything until then - however I'm so tired after looking after DD (2 years old) and getting the bare minimum of house work done that I still haven't got much done. I have mostly packed my hospital bag and evicted my DD from her cot but I haven't got the baby's car seat or bedside me sleeper down from the loft or cleaned them. I need to sort through DDs old clothes etc... And I had planned to do a whole house deep clean 🙈.
This baby is likely to come early so I have to do something this weekend.

Yep same here, as you can see from my username one of the many things not done is choosing a name for the baby!

Hello OP, being pregnant and having a toddler already is knackering.. I think prioritising sleep is a great idea!

Non essential Shops being shug limits options for next 3 weeks but as stocks in many places seem low I'd prioritise big things... And do a list to check against over easter....
As you already have a toddler does that mean you already have big items... Cot, nursery furniture, pram, car seat....baby monitor?
If yes I'd just check OK and order a new cot mattress. Sheets if needed...
Do you need a moses basket? Can you lend one? New mattress again...

Then I'd think about toddler.. Do you need to move them to new room? If so do you need to buy anything for that?

After that I think I would think about your delivery bag and things for hospital stay if needed ...what wearing for delivery, dark towel, granny knickers, PJs for hospital that can b feed in if needed...
Finally smaller items for baby.. If needed daddy can pop out to get these when baby arrives... Bottles, nappies, wipes few outfits at least etc

Make a list and get your dh / partner to help. If you’ve got stuff in the loft from your first baby then get him to go up there this weekend and get it all down so you can go through stuff and wash things etc. Order a few bits online like new vests / babygrows. Next time you go to the supermarket or boots buy the bits for your hospital bag like pads etc. Pick up a pack of nappies every time u go to the supermarket. Or failing that just do one big Amazon order of everything you’ll need? You’ll feel better once you’ve done it! Definitely get your partner involved though, make a list together and start this weekend. Good luck Smile

29wks with #5 done nothing (apart from search FB and EBay for cheap doubles)

I never pack my hospital bag until much late on any way as my babies are always overdue and induced. And likewise if I sort bedding and stuff I've likely got another 12wks to go before she arrives.

I do have stuff from DS who's 19m, so snuzpod, bedding, cloth nappies, sling and I have some handmedowns from a friend. So I'm less organised than just have a lot of left over clutter 😂

happytoday73 · 26/03/2021 19:07

Op I'd also be inclined to book someone in to spring clean your house (if can afford it) at 37 weeks.. Best thing I did with 2nd child... I had the energy to keep on top of it then...

AyyX · 26/03/2021 19:08

I’m the same as you, pregnant with my second and have a toddler. Currently 33+5 also feel exhausted and just want to sleep too 😩
I’ve put a list of what I need to get and what to pack, I bought some clothes already Grin
Waiting for the shops to open so I can get a few bits (want to go in and actually have a look).

26 weeks with number 2 and basically it's like I'm not having a baby. Oldest is 15 months so most of the equipment is here and to be quite frank, I can't be arsed! Solidarity.
