Thought I was 7+4 but scan said baby measured 6+1 - very worried!

I had an early viability scan yesterday due to a previous miscarriage. According to my lmp I thought I was 7+4, but the sonographer said baby only measured 6+1 and there was a heartbeat so she said not to worry and that I probably ovulated later than I thought.

I’m pretty sure on my dates and even taking late ovulation into account I think I’m still a week behind. I also got a bfp before my period was even due so I don’t think I did ovulate late.

Anyone been in a similar situation? I’m very worried, especially after losing my last baby.

Easier said than done OP but try not to worry, it's really normal. I believe anything under 2 weeks of a difference isn't cause for concern.

Like you, I thought I was certain on my dates and got a strong BFP before my period was due, I'd also had a previous MC which was why we booked an early private scan. I thought I was 6+4 when we went in but turned out I was only 5+3, they saw a flutter of a heartbeat. We went back a week later (as I was also worried) and he was measuring 6+3 with a clearer heartbeat. I'm now 31+5 weeks with a healthy baby boy!

Congratulations on your pregnancy☺️

I wish I hadn't had an early scan as I was measuring over a week behind, there was a heamatoma and my uterus was flipped backwards. The dates made no sense. But all was fine by 10 week when I had my harmony test: dates came forward a bit, no heamatoma and uterus was getting into a more normal position. By 12 weeks my dates were almost in line with when I thought I'd ovulated and my uterus was in a normal position.

Thank you both! This has made me feel loads better Smile I have booked a private scan in 2 weeks for reassurance but feeling a lot calmer.

@Davey88 no problem! Yeah definitely best to get another one to put your mind at ease! We had 3 private ones before the nhs scan because after the MC I was so nervous about every twinge! Be prepared that the dates may change again by a day or two, my first two measured a week apart then I had another at 9 weeks and it changed by 2 days, then at my 12 week scan it was 3 days ahead. They're so small at the early stage that the measurements can vary depending on position etc so changing a few days is normal. The important thing will be seeing that your little one has grown and still has a healthy heartbeat!

Hi all, I just thought I would post a follow up here as I always find it helpful to read the outcome when I’m looking at threads. Unfortunately at my private scan on Friday I was diagnosed with a missed miscarriage. From the LMP I should have been 9+5 but the baby was still measuring 6+1 and this time there was no heartbeat. The measurements were exactly the same as my previous scan 2 weeks before so the baby’s heart must have stopped beating later than same day of my last scan.

I feel incredibly shocked and unlucky to have had 2 missed miscarriages in a row but I am relieved that I booked the private scan, otherwise I wouldn’t have found out until my 12 week scan.

Hopefully others in a similar situation will have a happier outcome. I did have a bad feeling after the measurements were small so I’m glad I trusted my gut and booked the private scan. Thanks to everyone who posted.

I'm so so sorry for your loss! And it is really kind of you to post back as I know it can be frustratung to find incomplete threads.

I hope you are taking care of yourself and doing whatever it is you need to to get through and feel better! And more than anything I hope that your next pregnancy brings you a healthy baby!

Thinking of you.
