34 wk midwife appointment?

Hi, I turn 34 weeks tomorrow and my midwife appointment is tomorrow. Was wondering if anyone could remember or have just been for their 34 week appointment and could shed some light on what I should expect to happen. I know they'll do the basics they normally do like blood pressure, measure my bump etc. But is there going to be any checking down below 😳 are there any more blood tests? What should I expect? Also is there anything new they'll go through with me? Just a little help needed here thanks so I can prepare. 😊

If you're in the UK, they don't do any checks down below.

It'll just be blood pressure, possibly weight, and urine. Listen to baby's heartbeat.
That's pretty much it

And 28 weeks are your last bloods 😊 so no worries there

In my experinence the midwives in the UK almost never check down below unless there is a medical reason to. Very different to the US where I think women are constantly told how effaced or dilated there are.

The reason is every time they go poking around they increase a chance of infection which isn't worth it for a 'check'.

She'll have a poke around at baby and try to figure whether they are breech etc. Not sure if she'll have anything else in particular to check but if you haven't already then you might want to discuss birth plan with her (if you still have questions etc).

Awesome, thanks for the replies guys. I know I've heard of some people getting checked down below to see how dilated/effaced they are but never knew that it wasn't a normal routine thing to have done! Well, I can cross that off the list of things to be expecting (obviously unless any issues occur). I feel confident about tomorrow. Thank you 😊

At mine there was the usual BP, doppler for babys HB, FH measurements, weighing myself and asking if any issues.
She had a feel of where baby is in my pelvis too.

No checking down below

I think they check dilation and cervix at due date appointment. Or if you are having a sweep only

Only if you're having a sweep. At my routine 40 week appointment it was all the standard checks plus the offer to book a sweep.

People tend to be told when they have a stretch and sweep. They don't routinely check and won't usually check even if you ask as PP said, they do in the US but every time increases a chance of infection that isn't needed as knowing the information doesn't mean anything

They only check it if they're doing a sweep and they're there. They don't bother otherwise as it doesn't mean anything so no point
