Gestational and yolk sac timing?

Hi all!

I had some pain and bleeding yesterday so I went to A&E and got all my bloods done.. they were 928 at 4+5 then jumped to 2,412 4+7 then yesterday at 5+3 they were over 7,000 so they’re happy the pregnancy isn’t ectopic.

I went in for an ultrasound, going off the first day of my last period I’m 5+4 today but the ultrasound shows I’m only 4.5/5weeks.

The gestational sac and yolk sac was visible but no embryo yet as it’s too early.. I have a scan booked in next week which I think would but me at 6+2 (going from the date of my last period) would an embryo be visible at this stage? I’ve paid £70 for a private scan so would prefer to move it to a later date if it’s going to be the same as I saw today!

Thanks all xx

It's hard to tell really.
It's quite normal to be put back a few days as going by your last period is just an estimate.
I'd say you're better waiting until around 7 weeks so you should be able to see a heartbeat too

I would wait til you're 7 weeks to save the stress of maybe not seeing what you expect and having to wait and do re-scan.

Unfortunately we're not able to change the scan date so I'll have to attend this one, if I don't see anything here I'll rebook the following week.
I have the mindset of not expecting to see anything to avoid the disappointment xx

It was for me. First scan at 5+1 - tiny embryo in the sac (TV ultrasound), went back a week later and saw the heartbeat. That was abdominal but they said most people need TV ultrasound at those dates and even then you may not see anything.

@fruitytoo what do you mean when you say TV ultrasound? x
