Hiya, just wondering how long people had to stay in hospital after a planned C section, totally understand that it's different for everyone's circumstances but just looking for some real life experiences - thanks xx

With my first I had an emcs and a long stay post birth, I stayed 6 days and 5 nights so I just wanted home ASAP second time round.

48 hours for both ELCS and a very complicated PPH EMCS.

Potplant · 20/03/2021 18:12

6 days. DT1 was in SCBU for 4 days so they kept me in till he was allowed on the ward. This was a while ago, they’re possibly a bit keener to get people out at the moment

4 nights - but I think this was because baby was jaundiced and may have needed treated and severely underweight from IUGR

Kroptopbelly · 20/03/2021 18:18

24 hours.

Emergency section at 7am and discharged following day at about 4pm

Baby born at 2pm, home by 6pm the following day!

Much better than with my EMCS when I was in for two weeks!

seepingweeping · 20/03/2021 22:07

5 days with emcs and 6 days with planned but I had complications.

feckwit · 20/03/2021 22:10

Had 4 sections. Just one night for three of them but for my first I was in 5 days as she lost lots of weight ( from 5lb 13 to 5lb 1) and they were concerned.

Bentoforthehorde · 20/03/2021 22:14

My planned section (3rd baby) was 24hrs.
3 other sections I was in for days either because of difficult/ traumatic births or poorly babies.
The planned c section I played board games with my husband, went in to surgery, had baby, spent the night and left 24hrs after birth.

Last March I was in for my section at 10AM & out by 12 the following day.
I healed up very fast and was very lucky i was up and pacing around the bed as soon as they let me.

They put your shoes on! That was weird for me as I read as much as i could leading up too the section (breech baby) but i never once considered the bending aspect for pants and shoes

But i truely didnt rush anything, i was only minorly uncomfortable and when home it only hurt sitting up in bed for night feeds but otherwise I felt grand alot faster than my previous 2 natural births

VocalDuck · 20/03/2021 23:21

One night for the first three and four for the last one.

autumnboys · 20/03/2021 23:29

I’ve had three emcs, for different reasons and stays varying 2-8 nights. Whether you’re at home or in hospital, please rest as much as you can.

cheesebubble · 21/03/2021 09:28

@Sceptre86

Unplanned section with first baby 3 nights, second section 2 nights, could have been discharged after 1 as baby was bottle fed.
Mine was breastfed FTM and I was discharged after 1 night, what has the choice of feeding got to do with how quickly you're discharged? X
