I just had my 6 week (I'm 6weeks 2 days) scan and they couldn't find anything. I had a positive lh on the 14th Feb tested positive in the 26th and have had no bleeding. I even had a positive test last night. They said either it's too early, or the baby is in the wrong place or I miscarried again.has anyone else gone in too early and it's all ok?

Honestly no matter what it's far too early for a scan. 8 weeks minimum really. Sorry it's left you worrying.

SnooperTrooper12345 · 20/03/2021 12:15

6 weeks can still be very early to see things. It isn't always possible.
If you've had no bleeding then unlikely you've miscarried for it not to be there.

So I'd say it's either too early or in the wrong place

GreenBalaclava · 20/03/2021 12:17

This is the problem with early scans - they are meant to offer reassurance but can end up doing the opposite Sad it may well just be too early OP. Fingers crossed for you.

Kattenzz · 20/03/2021 12:18

I don't think they should do scans that early, it just causes worry.

Toria33 · 20/03/2021 12:21

Thank you for some reassurance.sxab notes do say something that's confused me further.tge uterus contains a transonic areas measuring 8x8x8mm and 7x5.3mm

As far as I was aware... Transonic areas are normally gestational sacs 🤔

@Toria33 I’m going through the exact same thing. It’s my first pregnancy. I went for a private early scan at what I though was 8 weeks last weekend for reassurance before telling parents about the pregnancy. It came back as a pregnancy in an unknown location and I’ve since been in and out of the early pregnancy unit all week. I was told that it could be one of three things; it’s too early, I’m about to have a miscarriage or it’s an ectopic pregnancy. The ectopic has been totally ruled out this just this morning but I’m still not really sure what’s happening. I know I’m pregnant but they’re not sure if it’s going to to be an ongoing pregnancy or not, need another scan in 10 days time. They have said my dates are totally off because I have a longer cycle so I’m a bit in the dark for the next 10 days. It’s really frustrating

Springingintospring · 20/03/2021 14:06

I had a scan this early due to bleeding. Consultant did the scan and couldn't find anything - pregnancy of unknown location. Had another scan, literally the next day with a sonographer and showed happy bean with heartbeat. Hopefully will work out for you.

This^

There's a thread like this every week. People are just paying to have reassurance but just end up with more anxiety.

Toria33 · 20/03/2021 16:24

Just so confused, hoping that my dates are a little off and we get some answers this week.. also confused they said sacks..

I had a scan at 6 weeks 3 days there was a baby and a heartbeat 💓

With my miscarriage I had a scan at what should have been 7 weeks sac no baby and I miscarried

Mother2princess · 20/03/2021 21:25

Please do not believe no bleeding means no miscarriage there is a thing called a missed miscarriage I've had 2

Horehound · 20/03/2021 21:28

I went at what I thought was 7 weeks but was actually 6 and there wasn't anything there.
Do another test tomorrow and again I'm a few days time. If the lines stay as dark I think you just need to wait a bit more time for a scan. These weeks are just cells!

Horehound · 20/03/2021 21:30

Oh I had a sack but nothing to see in it. Just remembered that. My pregnancy was fine!! Just found out I'm pregnant again.

Hi OP, maybe you're much earlier than you think? I would have thought if you were truly 5-6 weeks you would have seen something...did you consent and have transvaginal scan? If so you should definitely have seen something unless you're actually less than 5 weeks. This was my scan when I was 6+4 (baby actually measured 5+6) but I still saw a wee tadpole and a heartbeat ect but that was with the transv scan...don't lose hope! As I say you're probably just earlier than you think, why don't you ask your GP if he can do blood test to confirm HCG levels are rising to try put your mind at ease for a couple of weeks ? The people at my scan did say they can't guarantee seeing anything at such an early stage which is why they offer transv. Have you had any symptoms ? Sickness, sore swollen breasts ect? Sending hugs 💗

Toria33 · 20/03/2021 22:16

@rachhendy I had a transvaginal, they saw two sacs and possibly a tiny something but thought it might be a wall, I am starting to think it was one of my random longer cycles and I'm only 5 weeks.i took another test tonight and it's so red it's pretty much black. They are booking me I to the early pregnancy clinic on Monday for blood tests and more scans. Regretting doing the scan at all tbh. My dad's birthday tomorrow, My birthday next week and I'm a mess. :(

Horehound · 20/03/2021 22:19

Well I think there's still lots of hope op.you have positive tests and they saw something...you are still very early and if you do have longer cycles it's likely you had a scan a bit too early. Have you tried clear blue digitals for the weeks indicator?

Toria33 · 20/03/2021 22:31

I didn't because when I thought to I thought I was too far along. With my chemical I didn't get many positive tests just two out if 4. I've had 3 weeks if positive tests at this point. Can you have two sacs with only one implantation? I'm pretty confused.

rachhendy · 21/03/2021 12:10

@Toria33 awww I'm so sorry you're so stressed. I'm sure you're just earlier than you thought! If you're still getting strong HCG results on your at home tests I'm sure it'll be okay and it was just too early to be able to see much. I know it's so hard but just try not to worry too much 💓

Glitterandmud · 21/03/2021 12:21

Got my fingers crossed for you @Toria33, I can't remember when I had my first scan with DD but it was earlier on than they thought (pcos so cycles all over the place), they couldn't see anything, said I might just get a period Sad, we were going on holiday in a months time so they booked me in for the day before we went if my period didn't start, then we saw something! I also had very strong positive tests with her before the first scan.

Becstar90 · 21/03/2021 12:28

Just too early.

Toria33 · 21/03/2021 12:33

I opened up my clear blue early detection which was my most recent test and it also pretty much black. Are transvaginal scans meant to be painful? I have a tiny bit if tan dischargei had cramps after the scan yesterday, it's nothing more than a half a pea and it's mostly clear

OP posts:
Makingnumber2 · 21/03/2021 13:38

Sorry you're in this horrible limbo OP.
I had a scan at what I thought was 6w5d- scan measurements said 6w3d and there was nothing in the sac. My mean sac diameter was 12.9mm at that first scan. The sac continued to grow, albeit more slowly than it should and nothing developed. I've just had my d&c this week at 10.5weeks.
If you think your dates could be at 5w rather than 6 then I think you still have a chance for this to end well.
For me I was v sure of my dates as had used OPKs so there was much less hope for me.
And yes with my first pregnancy which worked out fine I had a tiny bit of spotting after a TV scan at 8 weeks.
I hope it turns out well x

Toria33 · 21/03/2021 19:27

@Makingnumber2 so sorry your going through that. The confusion must have been awful and the results just don't have words. Just the possibility had me messed up. the cramps and tan have stopped.. worried about more scans to be honest.

Ok it looks like I was too early, midwife said scan again at 7 weeks and hopefully will have a reset best or two
